My dog is about 10 years old, and he is a yellow lab, and just recently (about 3 days ago) his eye started to drain this greenish colored gooey pus like substance. I know thats not a very good description, but I was wondering if you know what I'm talking about, how can I help my dogs eye??

You can gently rinse his eye with a saline solution (like what contact wearers use) to clean the goop out of it. If he is squinting, he may have scratched his cornea and it could have an ulcer on it. Or he has an infection possibly. It sounds like you'll need a vet visit ASAP to sort it out and get him the correct medication. It is best not to wait with eye problems, something simple could turn serious very quickly.

It's not going to get better without treatment - if it's in both eyes exactly the same then it's usually allergies or something else, but just one eye is a bad sign. The vet will give you an ointment - you will need to pull his eyelid down and squeeze a bit there, and then his blinking will spread it around.

Sounds like purulent mucous from an infection. He may have a virus or bacteria affecting the eye, or a foreign object. Get him to the vet so you can diagnose the cause and get some antibiotics for him.

His eye sounds swollen, and is probably packed with fluid. you may desire to come again to the vet to have it drained/regarded at. i've got considered many canines at my shield with in basic terms one eye. canines are incredibly stunning, i've got considered them with 3 legs, and one in basic terms had 2 legs. Even canines that are thoroughly blind achieve this properly, now and back we don't word the concern. Get him a stunning eye patch, and enjoy. i'm confident a canine might desire to be deaf/blind/and paralized and nevertheless do exactly nice
