When the seeds are dropped by mature trees they scatter all over. The ones near the fence are likely to be more plentiful because the wind blows them up against that fence. In addition all the ones that are not close to the fence tend to get snipped to death by the lawnmower because they are in the middle of grass that is being cut.

Well, there's 3 general reasons:

Planted windbreak- Trees planted in rows by people.

The bird-plop method- Seeds eaten by birds fall out with the bird's poo as it rests on a fence post... planting the tree seed as it does.

Old fence posts- Some species of trees, when split for wood and stuck in the ground- then left alone- will resprout and grow again. I think locusts are one of those species... I seem to remember a lot of those near old homestead sites.

It is not an accident, the reason is that trees drop their seeds certain time of the year, and they fly away and get caught by the fence,so that's where they begin to sprout,if there was no fence, the seeds would probably be still moving about somewhere else

The trees growing in a fence row are former Post Oaks that used to be fence posts, but later rooted and grew back into trees.

I'm guessing you are talking about a poplar or crabapple. Some trees have runner roots that spread out near the surface - and they spring offshoots up every once in a while. So it will look like a line of trees.
