If your brother, the son of your father or of your mother, or your son or daughter, or the spouse whom you embrace, or your most intimate friend, tries to secretly seduce you, saying, “Let us go and serve other gods,” unknown to you or your ancestors before you, gods of the peoples surrounding you, whether near you or far away, anywhere throughout the world, you must not consent, you must not listen to him; you must show him no pity, you must not spare him or conceal his guilt. No, you must kill him, your hand must strike the first blow in putting him to death and the hands of the rest of the people following. You must stone him to death, since he has tried to divert you from Yahweh your God. . . .(Deuteronomy 13:7–11)

The book of Deuteronomy lays out Hebrew civil law. At that time the Jews were Gods chosen people and their form of government was a theocracy headed by God. These documents lay down the covenant that God made with his people. Jesus came to fulfill that covenant and to abolish it. Jesus makes it clear in the new testament that we are bound by the NEW covenant in Christ's blood. So- to follow the old civil law set down in Deuteronomy in our current society would actually be sinful for Christians for two reasons. We would be rejecting the new covenant and choosing to live according to the old covenant. This is clearly contrary to the new testament. We would also be breaking the laws of our countries which Jesus states we sould not do unless the civil law of our government causes us to sin against the NEW covenant. So why read the old testament at all? The new testament makes it clear that the law and the history of God's chosen people are laid out for us for our instruction. By studying God law we learn who he is. What do we learn from this particular law? We learn that it REALLY ticks God off when His people chase after false gods. He thinks that worshiping an idol is worse than accidentally killing someone! He gives a greater penalty for idolatry than manslaughter. So do we run around hunting down the idolaters in YA?? No, that clearly violates the new covenant. The NT is clear on this point. But, God's attitude has not changed regarding idolatry. He is the same yesterday, today and forever. Christians learn this by studying the old testament.

I dont know. U must seek GOD wisdom on this.

James 1:5[kjv]If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.

John 3:16[kjv] For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

so when we believe in JESUS we have eternal life.JESUS lived a sinless life and gave up his life as a sacrifice so we can be sin free. Ask JESUS to come into your heart and forgive ur sins and cleanse ur past with the blood JESUS shed on the cross.

With a simple prayer like above u can be saved.JESUS loves u and wants u to be saved.

The law is a cruel b*tch. If you have no idea more about Jesus, I would suggest putting it in the search engline.
And since the Jews believe the law of Moses, and they don't do it, well, I guess we won't either. You should probably read John Chapter 8 if you want to know what Christ taught about stoning.

deutronomy is the old testament. the book of deutronomy and leviticus were rules to live by. but man would not live by them. if you sinned in the old days there are prescriptions for what to do such as get a lamb or a dove and give it to the high priest who would burn it at the temple as a sacrifice to God for your sin. Jesus came as a final sacrifice, so that is why deutronomy is no longer followed.

Actually a good Christian follows the teachings of Jesus Christ. Why would you be quoting a book of Mosaic Law to Christians? Don't you know the difference?

And because Jesus died to pay the price of the Law we broke, we can now just walk away from such as these without bringing the sentence of the law down on our heads... Jim

Yes, but if you look at the aprocriphal writings of Maccabees I, we see that the Lord is speaking plainly to this day of hedonism:

"Similis factus est leoni in operibus suis et sicut catulus leonis rugiens in venatione (I Maccabees 3:4)"

Which when translated into English reads:

"In his acts he was like a lion, strong, and not liken unto librarians [that] are hiding something."

I hope that helps.
