my dear Uncle Wayne...
very interesting question. Given that in my walk, I have come to consider 'love' at this time as a very interesting subject indeedy.

I'm going to give this a shot by saying that Lucifer, as a created being of God, was created to attend to and worship the Lord. He fell from God's graces when he decided he was better than God. Makes sense then, that God would admonish him to worship his own master.
Man, on the other hand, is a created being to have FELLOWSHIP with God. Love, as I am coming to know it, is an all encompassing emotion that becomes tangible, tactile, surreal and overflowing at some point. When we truly understand what God's love is, we can truly know what He means when He asks us to love Him AND to love one another. I'm probably not explaining this as well as I can feel it in my heart. Hopefully in my continued study, prayers and fellowship with Jesus, I'll be able to better articulate it in the future, but for now, it's just a 'baby' thought in my spirit....

blessings you cuddly ape you :)

Satan wanted Jesus to worship him.
Jesus told him only God is to be worshipped.

I can't recall a scripture where Jesus told satan to worship God.

I can recall satan trying to get Jesus to worship and him instead of God, and Jesus replying that he/we were only to worship God.

Loving God is not mentioned there because that was not the subject of the conversation. The subject was who we were to worship.

Satan had shown that he did not love God so he was commanded to worship. We are free to Love each other and show our Love for the Father. (John 15:1-10)
Our love is given freely in worship, Satans is submission.

You need to provide a scriptural reference for that question. You seem to be referring to the time after the Lord's baptism by John the Baptist and He was thrust out into teh wilderness where he fasted for 40 days and nights...After which He was tempted by satan. Satan tried to tempt Him to turn the stones to bread ...To throw Himself off a high point so that the angles would rescue Him and also that If the Lord would bow down and worship him that he would grant to Him all the kindgoms of the world.
This account is found in the gospels.
so please.. for the sake of proper reference.. please give us the verse in the bible where Jesus tells satan to worship GOd.

In the end though... satan will bow down and Confess that Jesus is Lord...

I don't recall Jesus telling Satan to worship God (not saying He didn't, but I can't place it), but He wouldn't tell Satan to love God because Jesus wouldn't command him to do something he was incapable of doing.

He tells us to love God because loving God is what actually changes us. Not belief. Even Satan believes. Love changes. Love moves us to courage. Love casts out fear, which is what motivates us to sin.

In ancient Jewish tradition Satan is simply an angel doing the work that God assigned to Satan to do.

The word Satan means challenger. With the idea of Satan challenging us, or tempting if you will. This description sees Satan as the angel who is the embodiment of man's challenges. This idea of Satan works closely with God as an integral part of Gods plan for us. His job is to make choosing good over evil enough of a challenge so that it becomes clear to us that there can be only one meaningful or logical choice.

Contrast this to Christianity, which sees Satan as God's opponent. In Jewish thought, the idea that there exists anything capable of setting itself up as God's opponent would be considered polytheistic or setting up the devil to be an equally powerful polarity to god or a demigod.

Oddly, proof for The Christian satan/devil mythology is supposedly found in the ancient Jewish texts that were borrowed to create the bible. One can’t help but wonder how Christians came up with such a fantastically different interpretation of Gods assistant Satan in their theology.

Other hints about Satan’s role in human relations can be seen if you look at the name Lucifer. It’s meaning in the original tongue translates as Light bearer or light bringer. Essentially the bringer of enlightenment. The temptations of the Satan idea bring all of us eventually into Gods light. Hardly the Evil entity of Christian mythology.

Because Satan wasn't bright enough to see just how awe-some God could be. He was too arrogant - we dont have the same degree of pride blinding us as mere mortals.

8Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their splendor. 9"All this I will give you," he said, "if you will bow down and worship me."

10Jesus said to him, "Away from me, Satan! For it is written: 'Worship the Lord your God, and serve him only.'[d]"

11Then the devil left him, and angels came and attended him.

hmmmnn are you reading the whole chapter of Matt.4??? the whole thing talks about when Jesus was tempted by Satan and the reason why he said worship the Lord your God bec. we are made to worship only Him as it is written on:
Exodus 20
1And God spake all these words, saying,

2I am the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.

3Thou shalt have no other gods before me.

4Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.

5Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;

6And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.

And on Deut.6:
4 Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one. [a] 5 Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. 6 These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. 7 Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. 8 Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. 9 Write them on the door frames of your houses and on your gates.

that is when the Israelites we're taken out of egypt :) hope this help out...
