Stop being selfish and ungrateful. Seriously. He loved you enough to propose, learn to love something that was a heartfelt gift to symbolize that love.

What's next? Complaining it's a 1/2 carat and not a 1 1/2 carat?

Gosh, this is a tough situation. If I were you I'd tell my fiance that it was the most amazing proposal and how much you are looking forward to marrying him and how blessed you are to have him... however you were so looking forward to this one solitaire ring you saw at the jewelry store and you think it'd be more fitting to have something like that. Considering that you'll wear it for the rest of your life I'd think that your fiance would want you to have something you adore. Tell him that you debated whether or not to tell him but you figured it'd be better to start this exciting time in both of your lives on the same page, with honesty and a beautiful solitaire ring :) Good luck!

Does it matter? It's just a mineral . . . be glad he loves you! You might hurt his feelings if you tell him something like that. I know I would be slightly peeved if my fiance would tell me something like that. Of course, I'd probably ask for her opinion when buying it. I don't like diamonds anyway . . . they're not really uncommon. They're just expensive because there's a cartel in place to control the supply and it's the traditional stone (thanks to lots of advertising). Good night!
