I was pulled over one night while going to the store. So the cop asked for my license, reg, insurance. I asked why I was being pulled over, and he said "gimme a min", but NEVER TOLD ME. Anyway, I had lost my license earlier that day, so I didnt have it. Now I have a $180 ticket I CANT afford to pay. Can I just go to court and show that I have a drivers license and all I have to pay is court fees? By the way, I live in NJ. EAST ORANGE COPS ARE THE WORST. We have all this gang activity in Essex County and they wanna pull me over. Man please.

The fine in NJ for not having a DL is 180.00. I do not have any prior tickets.

If you lost your license, why didn't you report it?. Either way, it's a violation if you can't produce one. You didn't state what the citation was for. If the Officer couldn't find a record of your license, then he you should have cited you for not having insurance.
Get a new license, and take it to court.

You were an unlicensed driver if you did not have it with you, EVEN if you had a valid license in your name. But, most laws say you have to have in on your person when you operate a motor vehicle and if you can't prove that at the time you are stopped, you get the ticket. It is not their responsibility to prove you have one since you are the responsible party.
Not sure what other jurisdictions will do on this, but back home you can take the valid license to the Clerk of Courts within so many hours and they will validate it and mark the ticket that you do have a license and cancel it but there is a time period that has to be done in.
Get to your Clerk of Courts ASAP during their next work day and see what the law is in the area where this happened.
Good luck

I don't know about where you live, but in Chicago if you are pulled over and you don't have your dl on you or your insurance card, as long as you show up in court and prove you had one at the time, they throw it out. No fine. For 180.00 you had to have several tickets. That is a lot of money. Mine was a ticket for no insurance card, no money on the ticket. I just had to go to court to prove I had insurance and I paid nothing.

Nope cant fight it. Just because he gave you no reason means nothing, although he does have to give a reason if you take it to court, which im sure he had one. He could always just say you looked like a wanted suspect or something or other. No the point of the ticket was because you need your liscense on you whenever you drive. He knows you have a liscense because he probably ran your plates and name.

If you lost your license "earlier" in the day why in the world would you take the chance on driving without?
And by the way, police officers can run a check to see if you had a valid license at the time you were driving or not. Did they do that?
Go to court. If you had a valid license it is not the same as if you didn't have a license at all!
And stop taking chances!

You 'might' have to pay it because you didn't have your DL on you. What was marked on your ticket? Did it say it was because you were speeding. Or because you had no DL? Go to court anyways and see what happens. If it's anything like where I live, your court date won't be for a little while, perhaps save what you can just incase you have to pay.

I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and assume that 'lost my license' means you misplaced the plastic card. The other interpretation would be that your license was suspended/revoked. If you received a ticket, the officer DID tell you what you were cited for. It is ON THE TICKET. The fact you were allowed to drive away tell me the officer already confirmed you have a license and you were cited for something other than driving without a license.

No its not actual. even however having the flexibility to wipe it out of your checklist by using site visitors college isn't a danger. relies upon on what the offense grow to be. in many circumstances on the fee ticket itself it is going to inform you, or call the Police branch that issued it. BTW maximum tickets that are contested win in courtroom.

I know that area pretty well, so I know what you're talking about. Your best bet is to take your DL and go to the police dept. and show it to them. They may clear the ticket.

You might be able to ask the judge if you could do community service instead of paying the ticket.
