I have a medicine here called "After-Bite" for topical application after insect bites.

It stings momentarily at the bite site, but then the itch is gone and there is no swelling, even with misquito bites.

The active ingredient in it is ammonia.

A Q-tip soaked in ammonia would work similarly.
Use sparingly.

It's probably a flea bite or a midge bite, hoover like hell and get some powder to de-flea carpets if you have any pets, also treat them.

To stop the itching, natural yoghurt is pretty good.

is it a bite or a sting? if it's a sting use a credit card to scrape along the area to take the sting out, if it's a bite then dab vinegar on it.

If it's really itchy, put a dab of rubbing alcohol on it. Then coat it with aloe vera.
