Researchers have "cured" cancer numerous times in rats and in vitro (cell cultures). However, nothing has translated to a "cure" in humans. Some of the knowledge learned has been transferred to more effective treatments now on the market (targeted therapy drugs like Avastin and Erbitux).
In short, there is no one cure for cancer. Cancer is not one disease. It is a description of hundreds, perhaps thousands, of conditions all with uncontrolled cell growth as the common symptom. There is no cure for the common cold. There are many viruses that cause cold symptoms.
In addition, cancer is a disease of the genes. As far as I know, there is no cure for any genetic conditions.
So, anyone telling you there is a cure for cancer is either ignorant or pulling your leg.

You're kidding, right? If they had a pill that could cure cancer, it wouldn't matter if they were selling it for a nickel each. So many people would buy it that they would make millions, maybe even billions.
I think that if, and that is a pretty big if, they have developed a pill that kills cancer cells in rats, they will still have to go through the FDA before they can even think about testing it on humans. New drugs take a long time to be approved in the US, so if there is a pill for cancer, I imagine that the approval process, not money, is what is causing the delay.

Actually, I am familiar with the 'drug' that your brother is talking about. It was in the newspapers, but what they failed to mention is that the researchers do have a 'patent' on it . . and they have not done any Clinical Trials on human beings at this time. Also, due to the buzz about this 'product' people actually went out and tried it . . and guess what . . some have died.
There is at least one blog related to this:
John Webb died on March 17, 2007
http://dcajournal.blogspot.com/
The bottom line is this . . there is no scientific documented evidence yet that this product will benefit human beings with cancer. It is too early in the research process to jump to that conclusion.

I'm sure that isn't the whole story. I'm a medical researcher who has done some research in cancer drug therapies. To my knowledge there isn't any drug that kills cancer cells and leaves healthy, non cancerous cells unharmed, and works for all kinds of cancers. The scientific community has breakthroughs everyday, but we're still far down the road from curing cancer.

I think there probably is a cure for some forms of Cancer.
The reason why it's not revealed to the public?Money!
Thousands upon thousands of scientists and oncologists would be out of a job if a cure for Cancer was revealed.
