theres a family that lives next door-7 yr old girl, her older brother and their parents, well anyway-the girl says that i kidnapped her cat! i had never even talked to her much before, she seemed like a nice kid but anyway. on thursday her parents came to my house saying "bring back our daughters cat." i said something along the lines of "is your little girls cat lost?" and her father said "dont be smart with us, our daughter says she saw you take him from our yard, are you calling her a liar?"i told them i didnt know anything about their kids cat, they seemed pissed but they left me. the next day the girls bro around highschool age yells at me while im gardening to return his baby sisters cat and said id regret it if i didnt. and now that lil brat got another girl in the neighborhood, one of her friends, to say that shes seen me beat animals before!i live in a smalltown and ppl are refering to me as the cat rapist, and her dad keeps yelling at me to give her back the cat, what do i do?

I dont really feel like getting the police involved since ive had run-ins with them before, maybe thats why that girls parents dont trust me but really im not so bad, my parents arent in town this weekend and most of my friends live in other neighborhoods... *sigh*

You definitely need to get police or another party involved. A talk with the parents, explaining their behavior is harassment, childish and above all not good for anyone, would be a place to start. Be sure when to talk to the parents you have someone with you. You might also remind them that they are responsible for their minor child's actions, should the kid follow thru on any threat. If reason doesn't get it, have a lawyer write them a letter. People like that are usually just loud. They have no substance.

Have the vet scan her for a microchip. If she isn't chipped, get her chipped at the vets. Register her in your name - she's your cat. Also get her licensed with the city - further proof she's your cat. That poor kitty :( You're a kind soul and she's a very lucky cat - who belongs with you - not that irresponsible dolt. FYI - if she IS chipped - which I doubt - then it may be because the cat came from an animal shelter. If that's the case the shelter's info will come up, you can contact the shelter and let them know this cat was outside and how it was injured and then let out even when it was injured. The shelter would then sieze the cat since the owner most likely signed something saying they'd keep it indoors. Tell the shelter you've been providing the medical care for the cat and want to keep and I'm sure they'll have no problem whatsoever reassigning you as the legal owner.

You may not like to involve the police, but sometimes it's necessary to cover your butt, and to make the people back off.
They sound like a terrible family, no wonder the cat doesn't want to be around there!
But if they plan an kind of revenge, the police dept. will have a report from you, and will go to them first. Plus it shows the neighbors that you don't have anything to hide (at least about their cat! lol).
My recommendation: make a report.

Maybe she honestly mistook you for someone else she saw with the cat. Maybe you are innocent & being blamed for something you didn't do. Or maybe you have a split personality & your other persona hurt the cat. Or maybe you did take the cat & did something with it and are trying to cover your ***. Anyway, I just hope they get the cat back & keep in inside. Inside pets are safer.

I wouldn't say anything rude cause that might just get them really mad. Maybe you could get the police involved. Disturbing the peace maybe?

Have you asked your parents to talk to them? You may end up having to get a restraining order.
