What's with the fanaticism? The suicide bombings? beheadings? Veiling up a woman to the point of asphyxiation? And what's with hating the Jews? I really want to understand why the hate and violence? Will we ever be able to share common ground or just have to see who can kill more of the other? And is that truly in line with the glory of God? For non-Muslims, please don't give any political correct crap, that's not an answer. For moderate Muslims, please comment on your Muslim brethren who's activism is death to America, israel or the self. If I don't get it-please, help me understand.

I believe that when voicing out against the terrorists, we could be doing so much more.

Look at how many Muslims were out protesting when those Danish cartoons came out, or when the Pope made those remarks he did in that one speech?

AND look at how many people were violent in those protests... burning embassies, churches, threatening violence against people from those countries???? AstagferAllah I am so embarrassed to be a Muslim when Muslims are acting like that!!

But then look at what happens when a Muslim does a terrorist act in the name of Islam... mmmm... where are the huge groups of Muslims out protesting against that?

Our Muslim Ummah (all of the Muslims "family") is in a pathetic state right now. Really.

It is not that we support the terrorists, but we just aren't doing what we should to voice to the terrorists that we are against them. We are all over the internet voicing our opposition, but the terrorists aren't really hearing the message to the fullest it can be....

because if the internet was enough, then Muslims would not have been out protesting the cartoons and the Pope... they would have been online with their protests.

I'll even admit that I haven't done so either... I don't really even have faith in the Muslims around me to come out and protest with me... I think I would be the only one. This is a rich country and they are against terrorism... but they are too busy making sure people know they are rich (or if they aren't rich, trying to create the illusion that they are) by putting priorities on stupid things like competing about who wears the best brands, the best cars, the biggest homes etc... Once in a while I am able to bring up terrorism in our conversations but most of the time they would rather talk about the latest Fendi handbags or Jimmy Choo shoes etc...

It would be different if I was with most of the Muslims that I have gotten to know online... most of them are the type that would go out and protest... we could probably gather a good sized crowd if it was us.... but we are all over the world. that is impossible that we will be able to all get together.

the issue with the veiling... now, you have to realize that not all women are forced to cover... many of us cover because we want to and its our decision to do so.

There is a difference of opinion on the issue of covering the face (and also for some, the hands)... half of our scholars say it is required, while the other half say it is not required. This debate has been going on for centuries. The problem is, because of this, everyone has to recognize that there are two opinions, and if we follow the other opinion, you cannot tell us we are sinning and force us to adopt your view. Yet this happens all over. Especially in places like Saudi Arabia and with the Taliban. They force all women to cover their face...and then some force them to cover their hands.

Another thing that is with covering. Too many Muslims these days place so much more importance on covering... they will automatically accept a Muslim woman who covers but think such negative thoughts in their minds when they see a Muslim woman who does not cover. Yet the Muslim woman who is covered might not even be doing all her prayers, fasts, or maybe she steals and lies... while the one who does not cover does all of her prayers, and fasts and is a very good person.

I have even known Western women who married Muslim men and they eventually did also convert to Islam. But immediately after, their husbands were pressuring them to cover right away.

When the Qur'an was being revealed, covering was not one of the first, second, third, fouth, fifth etc.... things that was commanded on Muslims. It came later on, after people were given ample time to gain the faith. Yet, some Muslims don't do this for newly converted Muslims, and pressure them to wear it when they may not be ready, and may not have studied all of the verses and evidence for covering.

This is really bad. We need Muslims to practice all of Islam, not just be satisfied with what is on the outside.

Now for the issues with the Jews... as it was said before, the issue is not with all Jews, but rather with zionism... and also the oppressive Israeli government.

I am not going to give you my views on it... I am Muslim, so of course most people are automatically going to believe that I am biased (even though I knew the truth long before I became Muslim)

I will give you a point of view that is against the occupation that is from the view of non-Palestinians..and non-Muslims.

here is from the Israeli soldiers (IDF soldiers) that have signed to stop fighting past the 1967 borders--here is their "Combatants Letter":

http://www.seruv.org/english/combatants_letter.asp

Here is the list of the 629 IDF soldiers that have signed to this pact. You will see in the section under "Article" where some of them have written an article you might be interested in reading:

http://www.seruv.org/english/signer_article.asp?sid=1

here is an excellent letter/article titled "Just Get Out!" by Gabriel Ash, a former IDF soldier:

http://www.commondreams.org/views02/0425-04.htm

also, if you ever get a chance, you may want to find if anyone is showing this new documentary, or also you could purchase it from their site... it is a documentary of the Occupation of Palestine--you can see clips from the documentary :

http://occupation101.com/

now, the Palestinians aren't perfect either.. the suicide bombings against the civilians... and there are some extremist groups that dont' even want Israel to exist at all--even if they get all of their pre-1967 territories back... they are in the wrong also.

But Israel is in no way innocent.

But if you take a look at the sites I showed you you are going to see a very different view that most Americans do not see/hear about Israel and the Occupation.

and as the quote says on the website for the documentary:

"The greatest enemy of knowledge is not ignorance... it is the illusion of knowledge"

Salam :) I'm a Muslim teenager living in Canada. I wear hijab alhamdullilah and it's for the most part accepted here since i live in a big city with a sizeable Muslim population. I do get the few ignorant comments and idiots at school though who ask stuff like "yo got a bomb under there hahaha". But the hardest part is being different from your friends. Being a Muslim, parties, alcohol dating boys wearing revealing clothing etc is haram, and while I don't want to do that anyway, it can be a little awkward to have to explain why I don't do it to people who consider it just a part of being a teenager and its ordinary to them. Muslims living in Muslim countries definitely have it easier when it comes to fitting in. And with food it can be a little tricky but I always try to read the label if I'm not sure of the ingredients. But I wouldn't wanna be any other religion no matter how difficult it gets and how different I feel from everyone else, I'm glad to be Muslim :)

just take a deep breath and chill for a sec. Listen to me. islam has been portrayed badly in the media lately. i advise you to go visit a nice mosque or meet with a very good tolerant muslim and ask them to explain to you and answer every question. dont get and angry and be pissed okay? dont say ur not being racist b/c i a way you are. geta book on islam meet with a muslim and try to understand. u will be welcome in a mosque even if u are not muslim. christians and jews and hindus and ppl of all beliefs commit crimesso dont say anything abt muslims i could pull out a list of crimes by other ppl of other religions

first let me clear up one thing.
all of the stuff you mentioned is completely Un-Islamic, and well much of the violence is political. I am sorry if that is not what you wanted to hear, but it is.
All of the suicide bombings that Iraqi and Palestinian people do is
1) forbidden in Islam
2) this is how i look at it. The people there have lost everything. On top of their corrupt government, their are other nations (not going to mention names) that are occupying their land. The children have lost their parents and visa versa. So i am not justifying their acts, but i will cut them slack because everyone there..their mental health is at an all time low.

About the Jew thing, as far as i am concerned the Muslim nation as a whole does not hate Jews. We are against the Zionists and Israeli government because of their oppression to the Palestinians (which the majority of them are our Muslim brothers and sisters). One of my best friend is a Jew and she feels the same way as i do about this. We don't hate Jews (they are our people of the book and as Muslims we are ordered by God to respect them be nice, act kindly to them and all that other good stuff towards them. All of the violent acts that these many so called Muslims (extremists) commit are forbidden at all costs in Islam. It is not in line with the Glory of God.

I hope that helped you understand.

Offcourse not, the girl i love is a white ameican. My teachers were christians, if we would know, there are extremist trying to kill americans. We muslims will fight alongside americans. What you see on TV is corporate Scam who created the Extremist virus by supporting it against cumminism which was first deafeted in Afganistan.

The problem is though there are few extremists but the american goverment is controlled by rich oil mafia who wants to gain control of world's oil and make money. What you saw in Iraq is money Laundering by the Oil mafia. The put fears in your heart so that they can do these illegal wars and make money. Typical business minded corporates and then there are these few uneducated extremists who want to kill everyone including muslims!

Perhaps the Quran is behind "The Cause!?" I heard its because "they" are "grilled and brainwashed" to kill to get into heaven! But we all know it can't be heaven "they" are going to! It has to be the "other place!" Does it take another "super bomb" to take care of this!? But this time I heard the next "super bomb" may be equal to that of a trillion tons of TNT! Can the "madness" be stopped!? Or else the so called "radical Islamic ideology" may cause World War III...or aka..."The End!?" =<)

I am sorry but you have a very media based view of Islam... Media only SHOWS the bad parts because thats what people want to watch..... What I would love for you do is to read Quran and Sunna, thats true Islam not what extremists are doing today.... GO to whats written not to fundies actions. Islam is like any other religion where politicians and power hungry industry people use religion to control the people....... This is the biggest misconception about Islam that it tells you to kill non Muslim while in Quran it clearly states in several occasions that fight only in self defense.
“…take not life, which God hath made sacred, except by way of justice and law: thus doth He command you, that ye may learn wisdom.”
[Al-Qur’an 6:151]

“…if any one slew a person - unless it be for murder or for spreading mischief in the land - it would be as if he slew the whole people: and if any one saved a life, it would be as if he saved the life of the whole people.”
[Al-Qur’an 5:32]

“And why should ye not fight in the cause of God and of those who, being weak, are ill-treated (and oppressed)? - Men, women, and children, whose cry is: "Our Lord! Rescue us from this town, whose people are oppressors; and raise for us from thee one who will protect; and raise for us from thee one who will help!"
[Al-Qur’an 4:75]

So you see that Islam is not the problem but the people are just like in any other religion.... What Luther preached was the problem about hating Jews and killing non Christians. Hitler directly worked from the Lutheren theology.

As for Jews, not every Muslim hates them, I have 2 very best Jewish friends... However in Middle east Israel was suppose to be Palestine's land and Israeli just took it and are now oppressing the Palestine people. Israel is much much stronger then Palestine.. USA has always played a double standard with Israel.......What Israel is doing is completely wrong....

I have a question for you...why are you so angry?

Contrary to what people say, Muslims are good people. Muslims don't judge entire Christian populations by the atrocities of the few. I could easily say back to you (if you are a Christian) "And what's with hating the jews" referring to what Hitler did in WWII, or "beheadings" referring to the Conquistadors or Crusaders.

So please understand that every religion has it's extremists, but no one should judge an entire religion and all it's followers by its extremist few. Do you agree with me?

If you learn everything from the various media outlets you have then there is nothing more a Muslim can say to change your mind.

The best advice is to go and meet some Muslims and make up your own mind.

This is not the way of Islam. Only a handful of insane nuts who "call" themselves muslim believe this way, and make all muslims look bad.

What is your problem? You really need to see someone about it. It could get alot worse.

Dear open your eyes, I DID get it right. There are an estimated 1.6 billion muslims worldwide, and that number is growing rapidly each day. If you take all the islamic extremists and compare it to this number, then it IS only a handful (not literally, you idiot)
