Yes, selfishness and coveting material wealth is a sin.
And yes, a lot of televangelists willfully ignore that verse.
And no, they do not speak for the rest of us.

I'm not sure what you mean by the televangelists forgetting that verse? Are you saying that televangelists are being selfish with their money/possessions? Firstly, how confident are you about your knowledge of what they are doing with their money or possessions? Do you know many of them personally and you are asking about someone specifically? Yes, it is of sinful nature to be selfish about anything material. However, you can't assume that because God is blessing people financially that they are necssarily hoarding money or being selfish. Just my two cents...

Christians are hypocrites.
Matthew 19:21
Jesus answered, "If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me."
Luke 6:20
Looking at his disciples, he said: "Blessed are you who are poor, for yours is the kingdom of God."
Luke 12:33
Sell your possessions and give to the poor. Provide purses for yourselves that will not wear out, a treasure in heaven that will not be exhausted, where no thief comes near and no moth destroys.
Mark 10:25
It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God."
Note:
In a global view, how many Americans can claim not to be rich when thousands elsewhere starve daily?

Of course it's a sin for anyone, Christians or otherwise but I personally don't know any Christians who are selfish.

If you read the Bible in a worldly way, you take everything literally such as riches as being money and property.
However, the Bible is about the spirit of God and must be read in a spiritual way. Riches have to do with the truths of faith and the truths of faith can be exchanged like money.

Money is one of our Lord's most discussed topics. You need to read more and especially his admonition to:
Beware of covetousness. -Luke 12:15.
