Sure there may be some cops that are rude for no reason to you, but there's some really nice ones as wellllll.
What if someone was trying to break in your house and they wanted to kill you?
I'm sure you wouldn't have the bravery to go up to that person and do something.
& if it wasn't for the cops, I'm sure alot of us would be dead right now, considering how much people get's DUI's in the USA.
Gives you something to think about,doesn't it?

I don't hate all police, but their are a few categories that I do frown upon, the power-hungry cops who are obsessed with authority and arrest anyone they suspect has even sneezed; the ones who play "the race card" with races that are not their own; and the ones who stereotype teenagers as criminals who love to play truant from school to commit crimes. Thankfully, I know that all of these categories combined make up for less than 10 percent of all police officers in North America.
The ones I do respect are the ones who really do "protect and serve," the ones who save women and children from abusive husbands and fathers, the ones who arrest potheads that carry and sell drugs just for kicks (not just because they need the money,) and perverse sex offenders, etc, and those who lay their hands on officers in a non-sexual manner, to name a few.
Thank you, Alicia, for bringing up this question and recognizing that not all cops are corrupt. You could teach some anti-cop people out there a thing or two.

First of all, Thank You.
Unlike most other professions in public service police usually deal with people in negative situations. People love firemen because they show up and put out their fires. Paramedics show up when someone is hurt or sick and take them to the hospital. Police show up when someone does something wrong and takes them or their loved one to jail. Police stop you when you are driving too fast and write you a citation that costs you money. An ordinary trip to work can be ruined by a police officer just doing his job by issuing you a citation.
Some people have the intelligence and wisdom to understand this; but some are shortsighted and lacks the mental capacity to comprehend that we are necessary for society's survival. Without us out there writing those tickets, for example, some drivers would not have the fear that they may be ticketed and would not see the need to drive in a safe manner. Society would become so unsafe that it would implode upon itself if not for laws and people to enforce those laws.

Just remember, the next time when you are pulled over for speedning and the cop isn't in the merriest of moods., he may just come from the scene of an accident where 3 or 4 people are splattered all over the windshield.

I thank them. I did it for one year and then quit. It was the hardest job I ever had. I went back into the Army where it was safer! It was a great eye-opener though. There were some guys I didn't like but there are always a few. NONE of them were crooked.

Sadly, our officers are disrespected on a daily basis. No matter what they do or how they do it, someone will find fault in it. And yet, these are the same people we call in the face of danger. The irony of it all is that these officers would put their lives on the line to protect the very people who hate them.

i say this in response to your statement. if these people hate the cops so bad then when your car gets broken into or your house does while you are on vacation,you try to find out who broke into it. DON'T CALL US. You only like us when you need something from us.
