I have been a believer in god for most of my life (32 years), and had mostly downs in terms of luck. I am now an atheist, and I'm realizing everyday that it is what you make of life that gives you the "luck". I question God all the time, but I have not been having as much bad luck as before, when I prayed and thought God was controlling most of my life.

No, no bad luck here. I am a former Christian, same old life problems a lot of people have faced. I grew up in poverty, had little opportunity and have made some thing out of myself. God didnt do that, I "abandoned" him, I did it. There is no such thing as luck. Life happens to every one. Think about it. Look at stories through history (exlude the bible here), love, death, money, friends, health. Bad and good all around. Human nature, psychology. Not GOD.

No, not believing in God doesn't give me bad luck. As many good things happen to me as bad things. It's all about choices you make and accepting the consequences of your choices.

Not at all. "Luck" is a pretty arbitrary term, anyway.
I'm atheist, and if doubting God causes bad luck, then someone forgot to tell God when I was playing poker and winning hundreds of dollars. ;)
P.S. No, I don't say "was" because I eventually lost everything I won. I stopped because I simply got bored of it--started with ten bucks and finally finished with nearly $400.

Believing in luck is the result of magical thinking. There is no such thing. Do things the correct way every time that you can and you will not even think about luck in the future.

No, it has been studied and found out that religion has no effect on luck or on how well off someone is. Which kind of supports the fact that there is no god.

no we have the same luck as everybody else. i now have to quote the great george carlin:
"I noticed that all the prayers I used to offer to God, and all the prayers I now offer to Joe Pesci, are being answered at about the same 50% rate. Half the time I get what I want, half the time I don't. Same as God, 50-50. Same as the four-leaf clover and the horseshoe, the wishing well and the rabbit's foot, same as the Mojo Man, same as the Voodoo Lady who tells you your fortune by squeezing the goat's testicles, it's all the same: 50-50. So just pick your superstition, sit back, make a wish, and enjoy yourself."

How would you even be able to tell if not believing in god gives you bad luck.
It may be that rock over there giving you bad luck.
It may be because you look in the mirror for to long on saturdays.
Luck is an idea that exists in your mind, it's not a real thing.

Bad or not so good things happen to everyone. Also good things and great things happen to everyone. If you believe in a god that punishes you for having questions you are in a sad state of being.
