i am a big fan of Asia and i have just returned home from a 74 days Southeast Asia trip to Thailand, Myanmar, Laos and Vietnam.

Personally i prefer Myanmar for its natural and man-made beauty. The people are super-friendly and the cost of living is low. The only two not-so-good things about the country are bad infrastructure and the not so nice Burmese food. If you decided to visit the country somehow, message me and i will give you some tips.

Are you going Beijing as volunteer, participant or spectator? I am considering volunteering myself for the event.. So.. we might be under the same cloud in 2008!! :)

I am an American living in South Korea.
Singapore has been my best experience. Ilove hte many cultures, all living in such a clean and friendly environment. Little India, Arab Street, Chinatown, etc. You will never be bored.
South Korea is often overlooked as a tourist destination. It is somewhere to come for culture and history. Korea is emerging from a long history of economic depravity. It is hte only place left in the world where you can stand at a Demilitarized Zone and understnad the long and diverse effects of communism and the cold war. Everyone else in the world has moved on. Here we still are.. locking people behind borders, blacking htem out from information technology. It is incredible for 2007, if you think about the age of the internet. (they do not have it in the North)

Koreans are very friendly and they appreciate inquisitive visitors. Learn a few Korean sayings and you will get far!

This is a tough question... I love Hong Kong and Philippines but as a country, I love Thailand most. I've been to Bangkok, Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai. I love all the different temples and tourist places. I love Thai food and people are just great. They are so friendly. I also like the Elephant Shows and the Hilltribes we visited. And I like the fact that they are proud of their culture and heritage.

You already answered where I would suggest, Vietnam. Don't forget to see the Forbidden City in Vietnam. It located in Hue. Very beautiful too. The Kings Tombs, perfume river and the friendly people will make you a fantastic visit.

Happy we have family and friends there. We try to spend a month there every summer. Hope you have a great trip.
Cheers.

I like Japan most as for getting away (especially Kyoto), clean, safe and convenient + I speak Japanese and I like the culture and food a lot.

I have been to Beijing many times, in my opinion, you better visit BJ in this fall or otherwise after the Olympics, everything in BJ now is getting more expensive! Yes, there are many tourist attractions in Beijing. Other than Beijing, Shanghai, Hangzhou, Suzhou, Dalian, Qingdau are beautiful cities in China.

I went to Suwon, South Korea to visit a friend. Amazing place, just a short train ride to Seoul. South Korea has a fascinating culture mixed with modern western ways. Perfect place for a vacation.
