The ozone layer has been fixed up to the point where it is no longer neccesary to stress any attention unto it. There is no connection between the ozone layer crisis and global warming. The ozone layer protects us from UV rays and the crisis was that we might be burnt to a crisp in a few decades or so. UV rays do not have much affect on heat or, in other words, global warming. Global Warming is when the greenhouse affect in being overloaded. The greenhouse effect is when the carbon dioxide in the atmosphere provides us with extra heat. Under normal conditions this is good; without it, it would be too cold down here for living things like us. The problem is that there is too much carbon dioxide in the atmosphere so it is making it too hot which is causing floods, earlier animal and insect migration, the melting of icecaps, erosion, and not to mention the quick expansion of desert areas and other catastrophic events. They are now calling it climate change. Not much of a comparison anymore, bad sunburn vs the complete alteration of our civilization as we know it.

PS: Try watching An Inconvenient Truth by Al Gore, it can explain global warming better than me.

Well, when talk about global warming was arising, people could relate more to the ideas of the holes in the Ozone layer and emphasis was placed on the holes causing the polar caps to melt.

However, as the years have gone by, we have seen the effects of global warming all over the world, with an unusual number of strong storms, unusually warm seasons partnered with unusually cold seasons and just a great imbalance. The point of Global Warming is no longer as powerful if we only talk about the Ozone layer. It is a topic of conversation for those wishing to truly dive into what is going on, but for the majority of people, discussing the causes and effects much closer to the ground have more of an impact.

I always thought the two ideas were connected? The greenhouse gases and whatnot got trapped in our ozone layer which in turn causes global warming? So problems with our ozone layer are leading to greater global warming problems. Is that all just a fake connection I made? sometimes I do that.

Global warming will lead to a weaker Ozone layer. While the temperature rises the upper part of the Ozone layer(Stratosphere) will get cold. It makes the natural repairing of the Ozone slower. I hope you will happy with this answer!

Last time I heard, it's still there. There is some evidence that fluctuations in the ozone layer is part and parcel of our planet's history and something we should expect, remember we have only been here for a very short time. Still, it can't hurt to take measures.

It's because the "hole" in the ozone layer is so small that its hard to detect, it's over Antarcticia, and it only occurs once a year during the polar vortex. All the stuff about CFCs depleating the ozone layer is made up. CFCs have no known "side effects", they are alot safer than most things out there.

Al Gore and the rest of the loony toons did their handy work. Have you tried to have your ac repaired lately? Freon the "culprit" went from 3 bucks a pound to 30. and now it is virtually impossible to find. That is in the US anyway, it is still used in most of the rest of the world, it must have just been those darn Americans who where causing the problem don't cha know. And you believe their cries of global warming?

Wake up America, before Comrade Clinton makes her next big move.

the ozone layer is very important, its also disappearing.without it we would die because it protects us from the harmful rays of the sun.

It is still big news in New Zealand. Last time I was there the solar exposure report was part of every weather forecast.

Just because the media quits (or never starts) reporting on something doesn't mean it went away.
