No. I have been in and out of hospitals my whole life due to illness. I am not supposed to be alive today. I see death as simply another stage of our life cycle, and therefore it does not scare me. I don't feel this way due to religion, I feel this way because to me everyday is a gift and I have long since accepted the fact that this gift can be taken from me and any point in time.

I don't know if I'm afraid of the pain of death (unless it's by fire or drowning), but I do know that I'm more afraid of what happens after that. In our belief (as Muslims), we will be questioned in the grave by 2 angels about what we believe. Depending on the answers we will either have a very peaceful sleep that will seem very short, or we will have a long tormented very painful sleep until the Day of Judgement.

I am totally ready to die if that is the way my cards are dealt, as they say. Why be afraid??? I think most people are not afraid of actually dying, but more likely how death will come. Not knowing is the key here. I also don't know when or where, or why, but I am mentally prepared and ready to answer the ultimate questions...Heaven, Hell, reincarnation, life after death, spiritworld, etc. ????? I can't wait....

No, I'm not thrilled about illness, pain and the process of dying, but I believe that beyond death is eternal Life,Justice, reconciliation,Truth and Goodness. I believe that God became human for me as jesus and went through the Gates of Death before me and mine and that He is risen and that we will be raised on the Last Day. I am not afraid of death which is a part of this mortal life.

It is afraid of death, who has not peace and love in his soul. The person with gratitude with the One Who gave us Life and sincere wish to be His assistant and because of that help his neighbour, has peace and love. When the blessed death arrive, this person will go to plenitude of being and existing, where there are no mater, no space no time, but Plenitude. Is the big gift to arrive to death in this way.

I'm not afraid of it; I know where I am going and Who's going to be there waiting for me. I am sometimes anxious about what He's going to have to say to me when I get there... I hope I have a while yet.
A little apprehensive on the "dying" part. I don't do sick well, so if I end up with cancer or something... well, I guess I'll have to wait and see.
Hey Johnny Z, WHO programmed you for survival? Just a thought.

Nope. Because death is the natural conclusion of life. What's to be afraid of?

Everybody is afraid of death. It's called "Survival Instinct".
Edit: With all due respect to Kate, you have accepted the fact of your own mortality, but if you were completely unafraid of death, you wouldn't struggle to stay alive. Just my opinion.
That being said, I'm genuinely sorry that you've had to fight it your whole life.

Not death. I'm afraid of pain.
No because I'll be getting a good night's sleep, which seems hard to come by lately.

I'm not afraid of death because once I'm dead, I won't be able to be thinking about it anymore. :P
I am afraid of DYING, though, and there's a difference I think. Partly worrying that I'll die painfully, and partly because I don't want to die before I accomplish everything I want to in life.
