if it is, then why do some people say that it is just a myth?

The Earth has gone thru many cycles of heating and cooling. In fact, the general trend in earth's mean temperature has been going up since the end of the last Ice Age (about 10,000 years). So no one should be surprised that the temperature is going up.

The question is 'What is making the temperature rise?' Some people say it's the increased Carbon Dioxide from human activities. Others say it's all part of the natural cycle.

Which is it? Human activity doesn't accout for the 10,000 year trend (there weren't many SUVs back then). It doesn't account for the increase in temperature on Jupiter or Pluto. So, it may just be that solar activity is on the rise and it's heating the entire system.

Global warming is very real, just like global cooling is real. The earth goes though cycles of heating and cooling, just like the seasons. Currently we are trending upward and there is no disputing this.

The reason why people say its a myth because they do not agree with the reasons that are being given for this warming or the effect that it will have on the environment. Pollution plays a small roll in the earth warming and has been blown greatly out of proportion.

The problem with "global warming" is that it is being used as a scare tactic in order to convince you to "go green". Just like the "evil corporations" are exploiting the environment for profit, so are the environmentalists. Both are guilty of spreading lies about the effects of global warming

Until they stop these campaigns of misinformation, people will continue to over and under exaggerate this problem.

Gore's "documentary" was nothing more then a political stunt to get into the spotlight again. There were some interesting theories he talked about, but he also misrepresented the theories as fact. And severely over exaggerated some information and while neglected to mention other important information. If you are concerned about the environment, you need to look into the information that is being presented to you and ask yourself does it make sense, or are they telling me what I want to hear and then do your own research..

Only to the extent that the climate heats and cools. The Sun is the BIG variable. The planetologists tell us that the ice caps of Mars are melting. That indicates that any "global warming" is a natural phenomenon, and not caused by people as the alarmists such as Al Gore would have you believe. The alarmists conveniently leave such occurances as the Maunder Minimum and the Medieval Warm Period out of their calculations. This skews the results to their point of view.
Do your own research, and don't get all of your information from the evening network news and "An Inconvenient Truth".

Apx. 3 years ago we had the coldest winter in 40 years, last week there was a blizzerd in Montana. This blizzard dropped 0ver 30 inches in some areas. Colarado had a blizzard last night south of the Denver area. Our climate has been changing since the begining days of our planet. Climate change is alwsys happening. We now have more access to remote areas and can study them more acurately than our ancestors. Remember all the fuss about holes in the ozone layer? It has been found that it has changes , almost cyclical. Man has little influence over the Earth's climate. Climate change can be caused by the earth changing it's axis(maybe caused by obese bungee jumpers?). Maybe the sun is hotter than before, that would surely cause climate change. The greatest "green house" gases are seen over the rainforests, should we cut them down to eliminate those gases? I don't think so. Man should be evironmentally responsible so we don't have to drink poisoned water and breathe nasty air. But man isn't causing climate change, global warming started long before the industrial age. It's a natural cycle if it really is happening.

I believe it is very real.

However, I understand those that say it is a myth, as well.

Here is my educated opinion:
The earth is still warming up naturally from the ice age. Scientists have theorized that the earth's poles were once lush and green. If that is the truth, then we still have a long ways to warm up. I do believe that we are still warming up from the ice age.

HOWEVER, due to pollution and the destruction of our earth, we are warming at a rate that is much quicker than is natural. We are warming so quickly that the earth is immensely imbalanced and ourselves as well as other creatures are not evolving quickly enough to survive should global warming keep up at the rate that it currently is.

Yes, global warming is real. The nay sayers are usually following a political party's agenda to avoid any pollution control costs, or government regulations. Another problem is education, and plain old lazy atitudes in searching for solutions and better ideas. The greed agenda creates fog to hide reality in many cases, not just just global warming. Those who know about the relationship between CO2 and temperature will most likely agree that global warming is real.
Education is the answer. And in closing, I would like to add that Al Gore can look over his shoulder in his late years and say "I contributed to society", whereas there are others who can only say "Peace is at hand"! Get my point?

Yes it is real, and it's been going on for years.
Some say it's not real because for one they don't really care or some are just in denial. You'd be suprised how many are afraid of dying...lol.

But on a more serious note...Some just like to stir up controversy or believe all of these scientist who believe there is no God & we "evolved" from monkey's.Please.... Global warming is real & for those who want to deny it & not help, shame on you...We all need to do our part to prevent further damage. It has gotten out of control.
I can hardly drive down the road without the car in front of me throwing out a McD's bag & splattering my car. How hard is it to find a trash can? Anyhow, Please know it is real & don't let some fool guide you blindly.
Good luck & God bless.

The same reason why some people think the Holocaust was a myth, or the first man on the moon was a myth, or that rape and abuse is a myth, or even that God is just a myth: ignorance and fear.

Yes it's real, but a lot of the "Why it's happening" isn't real. It's hard to sort through all garbageto get to the truth sometimes. BASICALLY if we want the Earth to be here for our kids and our kid's kids, then we need to do the simple things that are mostly common sense to better the planet.

yes its real because of the hole in the ozone layer that caused the global warming and made the ocean's temperature to increase. we need to decrease the ocean's temperature. also we need to stop the artica's ice from melting if it competely melt if we dont, the ocean amount of water will keep rasing mean more bad storm as well.

dont to forget mention the greenhosue effect. im sure you are aware of the cycle of it but its part of the global warming as well. also our earth's temperature are rasing and cause COLD winter or HOT summers. we need to stop it!

the people are afraid to face the truth and they deny the truth. they want everything to be perfect but they HAVE to face the truth sometime and help out to prevent the global warming from get worser because who will suffer? our children and our great grandchildren. who know there might will be next ice age in about 400 years or less who knows.
