What if when you die, you are just a spirit floating with no purpose and either there is no heaven or you picked the wrong one? Do you think you will regret not screwing and drinking and screwing and smoking and screwing more in your life and will you remember all the time and cash you gave to the church that you could have used to enjoy yourself?

Ha ha very funny but none the less a good point. I think religion are just another money making venture in this society. Yea sure there is some charity work that may take place but the money mostly stays with the church. I guess with all these high gas prices the coffers will be a little lite these days anyway.

What would be to regret if you lived a good life and followed the beliefs of your religion? If I've lived a good life, why would I mind being a spirit floating with no purpose? Either way, I will have lived a good life and I don't want to be just screwing and drinking and smoking. I'd rather have a more substantial life either way.

Also, you surely depict non-religious life as fairly shallow...

The answer is that you have no more idea if you are correct than how they believe that they are correct. As a result this isn't a fair question as its a question you could be asking yourself and it appears you have no answer. I hope when I am on my death bed I don't think "I could have burned out my lungs, killed brain cells, and had more sex...gosh I wish I had done more of that". I have a lot more things I'd like to do and will be wishing I had time to do them. I say that and I'm not even a religious person.

I've lived the party life and enjoyed it at times, but when the parties over it's a sad lonely existence..If this is all there is, well, at least i can say I've known my God for 15yrs, and I've had some awesome times. The party life and a life with the Lord, no comparison..better is one day in the Lord's court than a thousand elsewhere..
There are great answers here, especially ALLEN B, and b97st....~~Shalom~~

irreligious people, what if there is god and what if there is heaven and hell..what would be a greater disaster..........?
can u be sure if there is GOD or not?
if u believed in god and it turned out there is no any..u didn't lose anything..u can enjoy ur life with religion life is not about all that materialistic temporary pleasures..

but if it turned out that there is GOD and heaven and hell and that is what is more likely..then u r gonna get screwed buddy much more screwed than the regrets for not enjoying ur life and doing all the disgusting pleasures of the mortal life.
and if u thought about it all the so called pleasures that u give up for believe in GOD are actually destructive for you..u should give them up wither u r a believer or not..smoking=lung cancer
alcohol=liver cirrhosis, sexual mess=STD no matter how careful you r u will get harmed...religion is for your own good though wither if its true or a myth

LOL!

But I do enjoy myself! People are constantly asking me why I'm so happy. How do I manage to handle problems with such grace. yadda yadda.

I did the sex and drinking thing. It didn't make me happy. I wasn't satisfied. I was used and abused.

Then I gave my life back to God and I've been on cloud 9 ever since.

So what if I'm wrong? I'm so happy all the time. Life is good!

Where does this crazy idea come from that people of faith are lumps with no life? Man. You guys have never been to a cursillo have you? LOL!!

I'm an atheist, but a christian gave me a classic answer to that very question he said
I live a great life, I have great friends and family and enjoy every minute of life on this earth. If I'm wrong, what does it matter, I've lost nothing and won't even know I was wrong if there is nothing after death.
On the other hand if you're wrong you're screwed!

I agree with some of the people here, if we are wrong we will never know it/ but we are not wrong. I would rather live my life by faith and later find out that there is no heaven then to live my life without faith and later find out there is a hell. will you regret it. think about it.

Are you concerned about being a floating spirit without a purpose?

That's not a bad trade for making the wrong decision.

i think screwing and smoking is personal preference nothing to do with being a christian. my hubby has never smoked but he certainly aint a christian. so you think its 'cool' to do that? wow what a great life you lead if you need those things to find the fun in your life.
