This is a mere terminology matter that has nothing to do with the devil... and there is no lie, its just that you are wrong.
Catholics, as well as protestants and any other religion that believes in Jesus Christ (i.e. Russian & Greek Orthodoxs) are Christians.
People may assume that when you say "christian" you mean "catholic" because catholics are the vast majority of christians.

Most non-Catholic Christian denominations accept Catholics as Christians. A very few do not.
A dictionary would say that a Christian is someone professing belief in Jesus as Christ or following the religion based on the life and teachings of Jesus.
Catholics would fit this definition.
In the Nicene creed, from 325 A.D., Catholics profess:
We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, one in being with the Father.
Through Him all things were made.
For us and our salvation He came down from heaven: by the power of the Holy Spirit, He was born of the Virgin Mary, and became man.
For our sake He was crucified under Pontius Pilate; He suffered, died, and was buried.
On the third day He rose again in fulfillment of the scriptures: He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end.
We accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. We are baptized as Jesus commanded in Matthew 28:19, "in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit."
We truly are spiritually "born again," we just don't usually use those words.
With love in Christ.

I think I see what you're trying to get to...not all Christians are Catholics (some of us are Protestants who have yet to reconcile with the Church). But if you're stating that Catholics are not Christian ... perhaps you should actually head down to the local Mass and realize that Catholics are indeed Christian. They believe, like any other Christian denomination, that Christ is our Savior and died on the cross, resurrecting and later ascending to Heaven.

Do you understand what the term Catholic Means? It literally means universal. All Christians are part of the universal church, the Body of Christ.
I don't think you have the right to judge Roman Catholics as not Christian. Do they follow Christ? Do some of them have a personal relationship with Him? Absolutely. Is some of their doctrine incorrect? Probably. Remember, every sect of Christianity came from (gasp) Catholicism.

Some Christians actually are Catholics. Catholicism is a Christian denomination. You're right though, it is not appropriate for someone to generalize the Christian faith and assume that they're all identical.

That is interesting... In what I have read and tried to understand is that Catholics are Christians... just a denomination of them... I agree that not all Christians are Catholics though... but are you claiming Catholics aren't Christians... I may have misunderstood you... could you clear that up?

There is always confusion here: All Catholics are Christian, but not all Christians are Catholic. Being Catholic myself, I do not believe that all Christiand are Catholic. But the majority are.

I think the issue is the reverse of that:Some people do not refer to Catholics as Christians, and they are.

and more then a 100 000 denominations of "christianity" isn't the devil confusing people? The fact is that christianity is christianity the church is the church the church. Catholic is just a name to separate christians from the churches that separated from them.

It is truely sad that so many Christians have divided themselves from Jesus Christ and no longer recieve His body and blood on a regular basis. It is even-the-more sad that so many refuse to even accept his Body, which was offered up on the Cross. Perhaps one day all Christians will become Catholic, but your are right, many are still seperated from Christ's Church.
