i've read in the news that many times some Jews have attempted to put in a foundational stone for starting to build the temple... but they were probably testing the waters to see what the reaction would be.
it was stopped by the Palestinians each time.
...
the Bible does indicate that when the time is right... they will build the temple without being stopped by anyone.

It will depend on who has the power, the control, the authority and the wealth to make it happen or not. There had been so many great Basilicas, Temples, Synagogues, Mosques and Churches built around the globe and Satan did not stop any of them yet the influence of evil thoughts among men have made the world to suffer from atrocities of war and greed for power and wealth. Do not so much base it on history but you have to base it on who has the capabiltiy at the moment to make things happen or not. Guns, goons and gold are the power who can make things happen and you know whose side are they.
For all we know, the New Israel's Temple may no longer be where you think they will be. God has already called it the synagogue of Satan in the Book of Revelation.

The Temple is not going to be rebuilt any time soon. When you see the Dome of the Rock get bombed then maybe they will start rebuilding the Temple. Oh wait when the Dome of the Rock is blown up that will probably start the worst war in history. The nucs will fly. It is an ugly situation over there.

Why would anyone want to rebuild the Temple? Keep in mind that the interpretation of Revelation as a prophesy of the end of times is relatively recent--less than 100 years old--and confined to those who self-identify as evangelicals. Most Christians in the world, both today and for the past 2,000 years believe that Revelations is a cryptic description of the end of the Julio-Claudian dynasty of imperial Rome.

I don't think there is time for another 40 year of testing. The temple will be rebuilt, the bible says so. The Antichrist will desecrate it after many Jews believe him to be the Messiah.

I think Iran will try to stop construction. They are pretending to be the spokesmen for the Muslim people in the middle east. I was born in 1948 and I really believe a conclusion will come about in my lifetime. Just a guess because nobody knows.

Numerology can lead you down the path of serious error - remember the Millerites (the founders of the Jehova's Witnesses) and how many times they thought to have calculated the date of the second coming of Christ? Bible study is a good thing, but beware a date setting tendency.

Why do Christians copy the Pharisees in believing in "signs"--when Christ plainly taught how wrong & evil "sign-seeking" really is???
Luke 17: 20And when he was demanded of the Pharisees, when the kingdom of God should come, he answered them and said, The kingdom of God cometh not with signs.
21Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you.
