last weekend i was doing alot of running in place as a substitute for using my eliptical because i was out of town and wanted to excersize..on tuesday i started feeling a slight pain in my foot and around my toes, like i sprained or pulled something..{there was no swelling or bruising, so i dont think i fractured anything}..but later on that night i started noticing a very slight tingling sensation that would come and go on and off..the pain seems to be getting better, but i was just wondering if anybody might know what the tingling could mean? im planning on seeing a doctor if it doesnt get any better in the next few days, but i was just wondering if anybody has experienced this, or if anybody might be able to give me any insight at all into it...only serious comments please

The slight tingling could be caused by nerve damage, a stress fracture, or just overdoing it. I'd see a doctor since it's in your foot. Waiting until you get a full growth of scar tissue there will really cut into your exercise program. Good LUck

You were not used to that kind of exercise. You have not been doing impact running. You have irritated your foot. I think it should be fine in a few days. Running in place you were contacting the ground in the same spot with your foot for a long period of time. You could have irritated some nerves or the connective tissue. Massage, ice and elevating the foot should take care of the symptoms.

since you were new to the exercise. the muscle you used while running in place wasn't used to it. it just means that it was weak, so it got shaky. you'll get used to it as you get stronger. but don't over do it. good luck.
