Both the AK47 and SKS are inherently very accurate. In eastern european countries they target shoot with 7.62x39 all the time. I find the Romanian ammunition shoots extremely well but can find no fault with chinese or any other type manufacture. Quite a few other manufacturers are turning out rifles chambered for the caliber, too. Don't sneer at or put down the AK or SKS in any way; they are really amazing examples of what we humans can accomplish. They, especially the AK, are simply made, rugged, reliable, proven by time and test, and what amazed me is taking an AK out of the box and putting 10 right through the bull. It was a Romanian model and had the test target in the box indicating bulls eye shots, and I thought "No way". I put ten in the mag and fired them; the test target was right; God bless Abtomat Kajlaiiihnkoba.

If you are shooting for anything other than just pure recreation and score counts, you would definitely want something else. Accuracy of these firearms is nothing special. Better of the two in my opinion would be the SKS. Most AK variants have stamped receivers and pinned barrels, most SKS rifles have milled receivers and the barrel is threaded in. This typically will yield better accuracy provided the barrel is good. Either is still a great gun to take to the range for a day of casual shooting. If that is the case, you would probably enjoy both.

OK Mr testorone the AK-47 and sks nether are target gun,s both are designed to put out a lot of lead quick and that,s about it if you seriously want to put some lead on a tight target and not spray and pray either go with a good bolt action rifle with a scope or if you seriously still want a something in the AK family get a dragonove sniper rifle in 7.65

Well, I personally would look for something else when looking for something to target shoot with, if you're in some kind of competition. Both rifles were made to put alot of lead downrange, while being somewhat accurate, but they're not made to the same tolerances as a sniper/target rifle would be. Now I own a SKS and I love shooting with it, just have to realize you're not gonna throw a scope on it and be hitting the bullseye every time at 300 yds.

Neither, both are semi auto military rifle which fire a hv ball round at high velocity with a degree of lateral spawl that makes them hopeless target guns.
If you must have a army surplas rifle for target work ( and i assume we are talking in the 300-700 yard category) id suggest one of the following:
Russian... Mosigerant bolt action (WWI And WWII). great sniper rifle and thus a good Target/Hunter rifle.
British... SMLE (the bolt action lee enfield). the MK1 and MKIV are great guns out to about 500 yards
German... Mauser bolt action (best sniper rifl of the war)... true MOA sniper tool... i prefer the Lee Enfeild but its a matter of which action you prefer.
American... The M1 Garand or its Grandson, The M14.
Both are semi auto (which you seem to like...why is beyond me). The M14 was and is a good support rifl for a sniper team. Its hv and bulky tho... the mag makes prone firing a pain with out a bipod.
WHY GO FOR A MILITARY TARGET GUN AT ALL?
look, get yourself a nice new Winchester, remington, anchultze or other such bolt action rifle! get one in in a small/intermediate calibre like a 223. or 7mm or a Hot 22 like the Hornet. single shot is best for target work, an integral mag gives more flexibility. If you want to hunt anything bigger then rabbits use a cartridge bigger and heavier then the 223. ... hunting dear with 223. is illigal in some states... my pref for an all round gun for you would be a good Mauser or a remington 7mm.
