In metabolic acidosis (chronic), there is increased potassium excretion and then in metabolic alkalosis, there is increased excretion of potassium. what is the mechanism in the kidney. What is being stimulated and which part of the tubule is being activated

the mechanism isn't due to renal excretion.
acidosis will drive intracellular potassium out of the cells and into the bloodstream. alkalosis will do the reverse.
