I don't think the media would point out that a person was atheist, jsut because they beat their kid. It's easy to blame religion for problems but in reality if people REALLY followed the teachings of Christianity they wouldn't be beating their kids. Those people are extremist and IMO crazy to begin with so no matter what they believe in they would still be freaks.
No different than you don't hear about Christians strapping bombs to their kids in the name of their religion. Each religion has it's freaks, don't stereotype them all.

I doubt it too...mostly because it wouldn't be important to the news people...
Just to be Devil's Advocate, in the US it's mostly called the Infotainment industry. News as entertainment. Now it's newsworthy when a religious person beats their kid, mostly because "everyone" knows that religious people are violent or insane, or both, and that kind of story will sell papers, or commercial time. An Atheist doing the same thing, it wouldn't be considered important enough to mention or even relative to the story, or help sell anything by mentioning they're an Atheist...(the 700 club would run the story, but you wanted *Credible* news sources, not Xian propaganda, and they are the only ones that would consider it important to mention Atheist Abuse). This doesn't even consider, mostly, any bias the infotainment industry might have.
Now if they were a Klansman, or a Satanist, Oh Yeah, Bay-BE, that would perk the ratings a point or two...an Atheist, so what?
Hail Eris! News at 11!

My dad was an atheist. I am not going to go into extreme detail because that is my personal life and issues. But we experienced a lot of terrible mental and emotional abuse. My oldest brother was the one that recieved the physical. Grabbing him by the throat, etc.
My mom was abused by my dad when she was pregnant with us. He kicked her in the stomach while she was pregnant with us, among other things.
Like I said, I am not going any further than that. I don't have to give you any stories in the news. I lived through it.
I want to add that there is a lot of ignorance in what you stated by singling out Christians and saying that atheists aren't capable of abuse.
Christian, atheist, buddhist, etc. are capable of these things. You can't just single out and generalize one group. Yeah my dad was an atheist, heck at the time we all were, but my dad was also mentally ill and he had major anger issues. I am convinced that if there is a problem if the person seeks help, not just mental help because not all situations are mental. but emotional, anger, etc, that a good majority of these cases could be prevented.
I was old enough to get help when all this happened, but I did't because I was ashamed of it. Now I wish I had spoken up because it would have prevented anything else from happening.

I used to be introduced up as a Christian. Only later did it strike me how so much it did not resonate with me. I left Christianity and went questing for some thing that made feel to me while my first spouse and I break up up. I'd misplaced my dwelling, process, autos, the whole thing besides my mattress, wardrobe, and garments. I needed to transfer again dwelling with my mom and dad after having been on my possess for five years. It used to be humiliating, and that despatched me questing. I went by way of Wicca, Ceremonial magic, Judaism, and eventually settled on Buddhism five years in the past. It's correct for me. It is sensible to me. I used to be ready to heal utilizing what I found out as a Buddhist. I'm married once more and feature a well dwelling with a well process. I am not estranged from my Christian roots. As a Buddhist, I believe in the direction of Christ than I ever did as a Christian. I inform this tale due to the fact I desire you to realise that I do not feel it's brainwashing or something have you ever if you happen to as a Christian guardian elevate your kids in a Christian loved ones. What is dangerous isn't giving them the potential they have got to position within the truly international, which could be very so much side of what mom and dad do. My mom and dad attempted, and I did not pay attention. I paid for it. That's no longer brainwashing. That's stubbornness on my side. However, if elevating them in a Christian loved ones makes them judgmental, closed-minded, and many others, then it's greater to not instruct them approximately God in any respect. It's approximately skillful way: what leads you to a compassionate, variety lifestyles in which you endeavor knowledge? If perception in God will get in the way in which of that (and realistically, it commonly does), then the man or woman is greater off with out. If the reverse is correct, then I might inspire that perception.

This is the most transparent question I have ever read on here. You "read a story lately", referring to a satan controlled individual. What does that have to do with super religious People? And then you go on to say "we hear a lot of stories". then you say "not something you heard from a friend". And then you challange and follow up with "I doubt it" You're being ridiculous. The only people who would respond in agreement are the super prejudiced.

Perhaps because christians seem to think of their children as their property. I'm sure child abuse is not restricted to believers.
Atheists, however, are not involved in blindly following the dogma of any doctrine. If an atheists child is interested in learning about other beliefs, they are not punished for verbalizing that interest. The atheists I am acquainted with support and encourage their children to explore.

I think if you could check police reports you would find that atheists and other child abusers are proportionally as common as those among the Christian majority. Of course ,atheist abusers would not claim "biblical" reasons for hitting or harming their children.
A friend of mine from Russia ,who grew up among atheists, claims that child abuse was probably worse over there. I think that violence against children is more a fruit of drunkeness, personality and social disorders and the like than for any ethnic, cultural or philosophical reason.

You probably won't find any because atheists don't have a religion to try and use as an excuse. What are they going to say? "I'm did it because I'm an atheist!!" No, they do it out of anger, just like everyone else. I hope you're not insinuating that atheists don't abuse their children. That is laughable. Children get abused in all cultures, economic classes, and religions (or lack thereof). To suggest otherwise would be pretty ignorant.

you actually believe that, that defines who people are? can you seriously categorize all the parents who do not abuse their children as atheists?
You really have nothing to discuss now do you? I would have to disagree with you and I have 200 people here with me in my area to back that!
Do alittle more "real" research and then come to your conclusions.
And another thing, when parents are accused of abusing their kids, there is no reason in the world for news papers or any other media source to bring up their religion or anything of that sort, unless of course the parents are the ones exposing themselves, that doesn't mean that they're all Christians and what's that got to with anything?
until then, remain blessed

I don't agree with your blanket statement but I know of some examples. Some Christian parents feel the need to apply the scripture that says,"spare the rod, spoil the child" as a literal command from God when it actually means 'to prod' and 'to guide' not to actually beat your child with a rod. When did beating a sheep ever help him behave?
