Before I get to the question itself I have a message for "purple D".
Would you please give an example of HATE contained in any Christian Answer to this Question? Hate is a very strong word. And a charge that should not be levied lightly.
If you cannot give a legitiment example, then you need to give the Christians here an apology. I suspect that you will not do neither. In which case, you are just a dishonest person and a "name caller". And no one here needs to pay any more attention to you.
Now, as to the Question: No, I do not get annoyed when the Witnesses knock on my door. It is the perfect time to share the real Gospel of Jesus Christ. I know of a few, (not many lol) who would not be Christians today, (humanly speaking of course) if they had not knocked on my door.
But of course, Im sure God would have reached them using another "road". Thats why I said "humanly speaking". I know that seems contradictiory, LOL, but live with it. lol.
As to the "Churches of Christendom" lobbying the government for laws, etc, etc,...
They must be doing a very, very poor job of it, considering the rampant immoral behavior of the Western World.
I myself have no problem with the Jehovah Witnesses not participating in the workings of Government, except for one exception.
That is not serving in the "Armed Forces" and possibly seeing combat. I have the same problem with ALL pacifests in that regard. (Quakers Included).
The reason being, my relatives have fought, died, and shed their blood to give the Witnesses the "RIGHTS" that they use to freely denigrate my Lord. I know that they dont believe they are doing that, but it hurts just the same.
This makes them (and other groups) parasites to the host countries that they live in. I use the word "parasite" in its "descriptive scientific" sense, NOT as a perjortive.
They reap all the benefits of a Society, and except for tax dollars, they contribute nothing (no blood, no votes, no canidates, no engaging in the political process even when the process itself is neutrual ).
So Papa Bear, to answer your question,
I do not find either the Witnesses personally annoying (because they represent opportunity) nor the "Churches of Christendom lobbing", (because they are so ineffective at it).

Speaking as just myself, who happens to be a JW, I knock on your door and ask to discuss. If you do not want to, fine. There are many more people to find who will. Some people for whatever reason do not have time to talk. It happens to me. We are in the job of finding sheep not goats. Maybe another time your heart will be open, maybe not.
One of the answerers made reference about military service. My father, before he became a witness, was at the Battle of the Bulge inside Bastone. He got a leg blown off and the another foot froze and amputated. Then he learned the truth of the Bible and was faithful until his death. I find nothing to be ashamed of about any of his life. He lived with honor.
Christendom however loves nothing better than telling lawmakers what to do. In every group of politicians, especially if a TV camera is near, you will find the clergy. Temporarily forget about Bible directives, it does worry me what does the clergy expect to get? It seems to me, the power means more than the money, though they never turn it down.

They're both annoying to the point that they are both part of the reason I'm on here--protest.
I would think the Jesus Crispies lobbying the govenernment is the more annoying, since you can chase a Jehovah's Witness off your property if you so choose. But as soon as a law is in the books, it becomes difficult to remove. And I don't know about you, but I don't pay taxes and vote so that I can be forced into living under religious rule.

True Christianity is based on living in harmony with and preaching the "good news" of God's Messianic Kingdom by Christ Jesus. The true Christian congregation is organized primarily to perform this global Scriptural assignment.
(Matthew 24:14) And this good news of the kingdom will be preached in all the inhabited earth for a witness to all the nations
(Luke 9:6) They went through the territory from village to village, declaring the good news
(Acts 5:42) Every day in the temple and from house to house they continued without letup teaching and declaring the good news about the Christ, Jesus.
By stark contrast with so-called "religious" activists, however, Jehovah's Witnesses note pointedly that biblical "good news" is not about such things as abortion or homosexuality or the death penalty or Iraq or pharmaceuticals or psychiatry. Individual Jehovah's Witnesses may have opinions on such issues, but they do not advocate for or against these issues as though it were a primary message from God.
Sadly, so-called "religious" activists distract from the real message of God and obfuscate the bible's "Good News". These self-absorbed religionists focus so much attention of their human agendas that they ignore the godly teachings that can really help people.
Jehovah's Witnesses go from house to house to encourage and upbuild. Their work is to spread the "Good News", which is about the Kingdom of God, and the blessings the Messianic King Christ Jesus will bring.
(Luke 8:1) Journeying from city to city and from village to village, preaching and declaring the good news of the kingdom of God
(Acts 10:36) Declare to them the good news of peace through Jesus Christ

I don't mind Jehovah Witnesses coming to my house and asking me to list to them. They are always able to rack up a good amount of time with me.
I find it funny that many of them don't want to listen to what I have to say when they are done.
I am not familiar with "Chruches of Christendom" lobbying the government for laws to "force" people to listen to them. Perhaps you have a Bill number?

You have a point there!
I don't think it is annoying to have them come to my door.. I just feel sorry for them if I don't want to listen to what they have to say or I don't want them to feel sorry for me for not wanting to listen. But in this context, it makes sense that some Churches don't want to give you the choice to hear it or not. I have my own beliefs and the last thing I would want is for laws to regulate them!! Isn't that why America was set free over 200 years ago... to have their own freedom of religion???
I would like to add that there is nothing more annoying than ANY religious person pretending to be better than someone else.. especially the ones that say they are so devoted to GOD that their bills seem to be paid and they are taken care of .... like my husbands aunt who hasn't made a house payment in over a year and says BECAUSE of GOD they still have their house - and they just got a newer VAN from the church and say GOD gave it to them when it was really the church people because they are so pitiful. I say God helps those who help themselves - everything else is just HANDOUTS and who would want to live like that? What kind of example is that for your children????

Nice one, Sasi! About time we all lightened up a little, don't you think - and especially Papa Bear. Chill out a little, my friend. After all, if JW's can dish it out to others, then they should expect to be on the receiving end now and again. Otherwise, it wouldn't be fair, would it?
To answer your question, IF ONLY JW's would come to my door and ask me to listen to what they have to say! But, because I used the Bible to disprove their false doctrines, they cleared off, never to darken my doorstep again. I wasn't unkind to them, or rude. In fact, I made them a nice cup of tea and we had a lovely, long chat. Well, to be honest, they did most of the talking - I could hardly get a word in edgeways. But they were so enthusiastic and sincere, I didn't want to spoil their fun. Perhaps it was something I said?
But since when do the Churches of Christendom force YOU to listen to what THEY have to say and obey THEIR rules? Isn't that the domain of the Watchtower Organisation? If you have a specific example you would like to share with us, now is the time to show your cards. Otherwise we're all going to be kept in the dark as to this dastardly plot THEY are hatching.
In the meantime, let's all continue to rejoice in freedom of speech and religious liberty - while we still have it.

Wow Mr Papa Bear you certainly have some haters here dont you? The replies to this question just reaffirm the hatred that exists on this site by so-called Christians too. Jesus didn't preach intolerance & sarcasm toward anyone so why do many on here practise it?
Now, your question....
When Jehovahs Witnesses come to my door I let them say what they want to say & listen (if I have the time) after all, they use the bible and I have respect for that. A lot of what they say makes sense. Only those & Mormons (once) have ever come preaching to me. No other religion bothers to.
Governments? They're all out to feather their own nests if you ask me. They tell lies to get the votes then change the policies. Religious people shouldnt mix with political issues. Its not right. Jesus didnt.
At least you can trust the JW's - no they're not annoying in the least.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
theBerean...
It is very clear by the answers above the comtempt that is shown via sarcasm & downgrading remarks toward the questioner (also by you I notice in previous answers you've given to similar questions)
I've never seen this attitude from JW's or Mormons on here - only by those who choose to downgrade what they believe in. (including you) The way they all pat each other on the back in replies to this particular question as they (and you) criticise anyone who disagrees with them is hateful & thats why I used the word.
It shines out.
Both Anna's & Sasi's answers clearly show contempt for the questioner
The sarcastic condescending attitude (both from some of the answers above and from yours toward me) shines out to anyone reading these answers when really those who reflect Jesus should have a humble reasonable attitude (dont you think?)
I noticed in one of your previous answers you directed your negative comments at achtung heiss rather than answering the particular question so I won't take it personally.
btw - only a condescending 'Christian' could call someone else dishonest for expressing their opinion when it opposes thiers. If you came down off your high horse maybe you would be able to see things more clearly down here.
~~~~~~~~~
theBerean,
I see you haven't decided to come down from your high horse which is quite a shame.
I havent the time or the inclination to go sifting through your answers as quite franky I find them boring & repetitive. I did however, notice a few directed to other people (negatively) rather than answering the questioner.
To say that someone else has a mind that ignores facts and accepts unsupported statements & they have a mind that has lost its Intellectual Virginity and is no longer "Independent" is a personal attack. Of course it's personal. How would you like it if someone said that about you? Are you so condescending that you cannot see that?
If it makes you happy to be sarcastic & negative then who am I to stop you? Except I have an opinion the same as you do.
But to justify that sarcasm by claiming God is sarcastic is going just a bit far don't you think? God wouldn't show the attitude you display.
If you think He would then I feel very sorry for you.
Perhaps you don't recognise a condescending attitude or sarcasm because you display it too?
Even some of the other answerers detected it too, so maybe (and I'll quote you (to Tink below you)) your "BS meter" needs new batteries?
I am glad to hear that you've managed to temper your sarcasm though. That's a positive thing in my opinion. While you may still have a long way to go, if you continue to make improvements like that then maybe in the future you will begin to understand what it's like to show a Christian attitude and reflect Jesus qualities.
B.t.w - Some people consider the use of capital letters in text as rude.
~~~
TheBerean,
I'm torn between retracting the word "boring" as the last thing I would want to do is hurt you :-)
On the other hand, I wouldn't want to spoil your fun either. Decisions, decisions! ...
.....I've decided to retract the word Lol
And... I'm well aware of what sarcasm is. God never used it in a way that is tinged with contempt in the way that humans do. So the way he spoke to Job, wouldn't be classed as sarcasm at all.
The definition of sarcasm in my dictionary is as follows:
- A bitter cutting jest; a severe gibe; keen irony
God would never use bitter cutting remarks to Job, who (although he had wrong thoughts) followed God.
Awww, don't be annoyed by the Jehovah's witnesses! Yes, they're persistent and feel a bit like solicitors when you're not interested, but they're just trying to share something (for free) that has brought them hapiness. Instead, give them each a cookie and a glass of lemonade and send them on their way.
And you're never FORCED to listen to anything anyone has to say. It's just a good idea to at least listen if you don't want to appear to be closed minded.
You never have to agree.
Personally, I admire those who are passionate about what they believe in, and are brave enough to try to change things when they truly believe that theirs is a just cause.
Without that kind of thinking, America wouldn't even exist.
