Because your life is not really prewritten. It's a method to control the masses to tell them that.

Heres the deal you have to understand that god exists out side of our universe and is not touched by time or space he is alpha and omega meening he is right now present at the beging and at the end of time as well as with you. He understands what is going on in your life and sees it like a time line. You have free will but that dosent meen that god dosent know what your going to do before u do it. For example i can pretend to throw a punch at you and you will flinch i know that your going to flinch. The deal with free will is just that we have the ultimate choice in life. This right here is my theory and i'm not sure what the catholic church says about it but this is my belife that god can controll everything around you but not you. He can make it so you have no other option but to do somthing but he cant make you do it. Like he cant make you swerve off the side of the road and get in an accident but he can make a squirl or a dog run into the road which leads you to do somthing like it. He can open and close doors and posiblilitys in our lives..
Hope i helped god bless.

The best way I would like to think about this is that God is all powerful, so why would he be subject to something as little as time. To God, time is not linear as we see it. He can see our entire life. We still have free will, just that god already knows what we chose for ourselves.
God can't be surprised by unexpected events; if he could, he would be all powerful and he wouldn't be God.
We always have a choice as far as we know, God just already knows what we choose. it's a lot like "the Matrix" we're not here to make the choice that's been done, we're here to understand the choice that's been made. yet he still had a choice in his own heart.

Imagine recording a live baseball game. All the players have free choice to make their decisions - the recording does not affect that.
Now imagine you could watch that recording before the game begins. Does that change the fact that the players made those decisions freely?
In the same way, God, who is outside of time, can see the decisions we make before we make them.

what version are you using? Mine says something completely different.
God knows all POSSIBLITIES. Like what would happen if we picked such and such a course. We're the ones who pick those possibilities. Plus God is outside of time. He knows our future and the decisions we will make simply because he is not constricted by time. But that does not mean that he controls our lives like puppets. It's just like if you press fastfoward on the movie. You know what happens at the end but you didn't cast the plot.
I do believe that God places circumstances for us to guide us when we need him and directs our footsteps. But it is in our choice whether or not to follow him.

Life is like a an endless map... at cross-ways you are always free to choose your road but each road will take you in a certain direction and to a certain set of cross-ways.
God drew this map but let you decide which way to go

You can't. That verse is fiction. But the free will question is fairly profound. The laws of physics give, in principle, the result of any human decision; all that is necessary is the complete history of every sense that the person has encountered in his lifetime. Of course, that is impossible, so a free will model is appropriate -- because it works adequately well.

well look at samson and saul..they both could had a great ending in their lives..but their freewill brought shame.
look at david he committed sin..and that sin..SEEDED murder, rape and pride..among his very own kids..daughter was rpaed..because david rape a married woman with his pride being a king (he slip thinking like a heathen..vs asking GOD..i desire this woman..blah blah)..again..david had free will to do right..or wrong..and he suffered..
so you see..you have a choice to be saved..or be the like of these men..and suffer great losses.
sin or denial or bad choices come with a cost..to your future.and to your kids..and their kids.
like the way you are is the product of your parent and grandparent and great grandparent..sins are pass onto each of us. so in short..it is NOT full prewritten..the option to go left 10 degree or 1 degree give a variable answer at the finish line.

Gracie, free will and the sovereignty of God are two different topics. God alone knows all things. God is not limited by space and time. God created time.
Asking how God can (do anything), is like asking how the sun can be bright, because you are blind and can't see it.
God gives you free will.
God also predestinates.
They are two different topics.
It's like breaking into a banquet hall to steal bread and when you get there, you find your name is on the guest's list.
It just is.

I don't think they are prewritten. Quantum indeterminacy and all that. You'd get much better answers posting this in the Philosophy section.
