is anyone pretending iran or syria, or countless other nations in the region wont finance terrorist groups targeting the West?

ill remind you our greatest ally in the middle east, the saudis, gave us 911-----and exactly how were they punished?...oh thats right, the price of oil is through the roof, making it very difficult for them to count all of that money

Extremists gave us 9/11, not a country.

Additional Comment:
We get much more oil from Canada (who is not even a member of OPEC) than we do Saudi Arabia, perhaps it's time to invade Canada...

The answer to your question depends entirely on which party is power in the US government when that happens. If the Republicans keep power, we'll be at war with Iran and Syria next. If Democrats take control we'll pull out at first and then return to the region later after terrorism takes over again. Either way, we're gonna be at war in the Middle East for one reason or another for quite some time.

The Saudi royal house take all this a lot more seriously than we do. That is why there are a few hundred to a thousand body's in the desert. Respectfully buried with a pile of rock's and detached head's between their feet. I don't say they are perfect. But the Saudi royal's had nothing to do with 9/11. They hate and fear Al Queada even more than we do. They don't really support us in Iraq, they are Sunni, not Shiite. and Osma Bin Ladin is an extreme Wahhabi fanatic. Our greatest ally in the Middle East used to be Iran a few year's back. This is a snake pit we should have never become directly involved with. But now we are we should be practical, we went to Iraq again to overthrow Saddam. He is. He is hung and rotting in the ground. Not worth what we paid for it in my opinion. But now we should pull out period. Focus on the real war in Afastighan. Pull out and regroup and focus on that.

You know what really helped kill off Communism? It was the sight of tourists, with their fancy designer clothes and impossible to acquire cameras and electronics. It made the people in the Communist nations seethe with anger and resentment.

Once Iraq is a stable democracy, its neighbors will start to envy Iraq's freedoms. It is inevitable. The desire to be free is one of our most basic innate human traits.

Read this:

"It's strange for me to say it, but this process of change has started because of the American invasion of Iraq," explains Jumblatt. "I was cynical about Iraq. But when I saw the Iraqi people voting three weeks ago, 8 million of them, it was the start of a new Arab world." Jumblatt says this spark of democratic revolt is spreading. "The Syrian people, the Egyptian people, all say that something is changing. The Berlin Wall has fallen. We can see it."

Do you see? Spreading the concept of democracy is already working. How about Libya? They changed their tune pretty fast. One day they were one of the biggest terrorist countries and the next they decide to cooperate with us. Saudi Arabia used to play both sides of the fence, and now they are firmly in our corner against terrorism. Pretty amazing, huh?

Your question is going to go over the heads of many people.

You are right to ask it.

The actual terms of this war seem to be that we will allow the Wahabiist schools in Saudi Arabia continue to teach Jihad, then we will attack whatever country serves Cheney/Bush business interests; and if anyone questions it we call them traitors.

It's gotten old; but I remember Viet Nam; this is a repeat. Be ready for this to drag on for at least ten more years or until there is a nuclear war, whichever happens first.

When we are done in Iraq we will have to go back to Fighting the war on terror.
We don't have any choice. the next President will have to start over and do it right, because next time the terrorists might bring a nuclear bomb from bush's friends in Pakistan.

We're gonna have to have a 40-year struggle like with the USSR. We won that, and we will defeat the radical Muslims.

Then we hope to God its over. And hopefully there will Peace treaties in place. But I don't think its going to be over until that one guy is dead or Bush is impeached and someone with brains would come into office.
