Well, you know how the Christians like to cherry-pick their scriptures. It's all supposed to be the sacred word of God, but they seem to be okay with spouting off all the time about the verses they like but ignoring the ones that are inconvenient for them!

Frankly, if this is what he wants, I don't see how you have any choice. It only takes one spouse to force a divorce. All I can tell you is that in my limited experience with this situation the second marriage doesn't last either, and the next divorce is much more expensive and hostile. In my opinion, the reason God carved out the adultery exception for divorce is that it is the hardest sin for humans to forgive their spouses and the bitterness from the betrayal keeps coming back like a virus. Also, I've observed that for some strange reason, men can cheat but still hold their cheating wives to a much more guilty standard. Don't give up hope, because God is still in the heart-change business.

I could care less what your bible says about MY divorce. I'm not committing adultry because I'm married to the man I love and would never betray his trust in such a way. But the first husband can rot wherever he is because he's nothing but a cheater, liar, and abuser.

So, it's okay for a man to beat the crap out of his wife, and when she divorces him, she's still committing adultery? Your religion makes no sense.
I am so sorry, I thought this was a Christian asking this question. Still, their religion makes no sense.

No I have not committed adultery. I never will. I believe the only good reasons to get a divorce are infidelity or abuse.

OK well what if it's my first marriage and his second. His wife cheated on him. So does this mean i am not sinning? Damn...to many rules in the Bible. Who in hell can follow all of them. This is why i do not listen to preaching. It's all goofy. If i am sinning then i sinned real good twice last night.

I agree with this statement. Because of that I take my marriage vows more seriously than someone who ignores Jesus' words on divorce.
However, Jesus also said that Moses allowed divorce because of the hardness of the people's hearts. I doubt that the hearts of today's people are any softer than the hearts of 4000-5000 years ago.

But then if you're unfaithful, you can get the divorce, so then you're okay. So it's all cool in the end.

I guess this depends on if they are christian or not.
If they aren't christian then probably many less than you'd think. This quote is one more reason I'm glad I don't subscribe to man-made religion.
