I was a member of Lakewood Church (Joel Osteen) for 16 years, I remember John Osteen and I watched Joel grow as a pastor, I miss that church and I know they specialize in reaching baby Christians and those who need these common sense sermons - and they are good, but I agree that he needs to start serving meat to the congregation, otherwise, the people won't grow - it may offend people to hear the truth of the Gospel, but it still needs to be heard - people need to know how they are responsible for their actions (sin) and things like that - I wish you could have heard John Osteen, he was very bold and unashamed to preach the truth, God bless you.

Hey, i live here in Houston and actually have attended his sermons... I am a Born-Again Christian and i know from my perspective Joel Osteen is more of a "motivational" speaker than he is anything else. I know he does speak random bible versus but rarely do you ever see any kind of fellowship on such a massive scale as his church would require... Again this is just my opinion... People do get "saved" at his church but the whole process really isnt seen through... Thats my 2 cents... People go dressed to his sermons as if they were going to club dances, i mean, people chewing gum, definately not a place where you can go and feel one with Christ albeit they do have a great choir that does lift up your spirits, but other than that, nothing...

Joel Osteen is a delightful to look at fake instructor with a "experience solid" message which will take you at recent to hell .... do not stop at pass and assemble $a hundred. He teaches a prosperity message to those who prefer to pay attention something it fairly is human beings attractive not God attractive. certainty, permit me introduce myself my call is Mary and that i'm a company believer that there is a hell and that i'm now not afraid of it because of the fact I certainly have located my have faith in Christ and Him on my own for my eternal protection. If human beings inform you they are actually not petrified of hell, they're probably mendacity by using their tooth or they're downright stupid! All that different stuff including obedience to the word and such won't come of course because of the fact they are actually not listening to the certainty from Osteen and others like him. i'm sorry to bust your bubble yet you may desire to get your self in a solid Bible coaching church and learn the word for your self .... and not in any respect take what a preacher teaches because of the fact the perfect word! II Timothy 3:sixteen, 17 All Scripture is given by notion of God, and is worthwhile for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for preparation in righteousness, 17 that the guy of God may be finished, thoroughly geared up for each solid paintings. Be a Berean .... Acts 17:10, 11 Then the brethren at recent despatched Paul and Silas away by nighttime to Berea. whilst they arrived, they went into the synagogue of the Jews. 11 those have been extra ordinary-minded than those in Thessalonica, in that they won the word with all readiness, and searched the Scriptures on a daily basis to verify whether those issues have been so. I pray the Lord will bless you on your seek for the certainty.

I'm re-reading his book "Your Best Life Now". Personally it's inspiring, that's why I'm re-reading. Each believer in the Lord is unique. The Lord has given us each a different ministry. His father was his father, and Joel is Joel. Rather than drawing daggers against one another, let us complement each other in Christ. If Joel brings people into the faith, may be that's all about his calling. It's another person's to continue with them into maturity. Thanks.

Well, you are entitled to your opinion in this forum and I am entitled to mine. I think Joel Osteen is the "real deal" with the mighty Hand of God placed upon him. Now, I am not a ranting zealot. The people that have driven me beserk as a believer have been Benny Hin, Jim & Tammy, John Wesley Fletcher, and last but never least, the eye dabbing Jan Crouch.

I don't know about the clips on youtube, but I have heard a couple of his sermons. and some of what he says makes sense.
granted its common sense and stuff that everyone should know. But some of it is stuff that we all might need to hear again every now and then.
so maybe he is doing some good out there.

His messages are strong, yes, but I feel that he should focus more on the Gospels. But to answer your question, yes, people get saved all the time at the church in TX.

He appeals to the masses. He appeals to those who want to sit back and do nothing in this world. Personally, I find him so "new agey" it's creepy.
