Well, words are words. "Gay" can mean "lame" or something of the like. The N-word is actually calling someone a "cotton-picking black person", which is a round-about way of saying that blacks never deserved freedom. Pretty "gay" if you ask me.

Because "gay" is the preferred term for a gay person. The n-word is only the preferred term at a Klan rally. I think a better correlation would be a certain f-word used for gay people or a certain d-word for lesbians or that q-word. Like the n-word, these three are used by people within those groups to refer to themselve, really an effort to reclaim the power these words have historically had over them. People outside of those groups simply ought not use them because there's too much offensive baggage.

I had to read thru some other answer,s before i realized you wre talking about race with N-er. I actually thought N-er was an expression as ner do well. My mother would of used that as such. Anyway i still dont see a connection with the two words no matter what context you choose to use them in.

Gay= a person's sexual preference. They are born that way, and it's not considered a swear word.
The "N" Word= An ignorant black person. (It's like calling a female the "C" word, a white person a cracker, an Irish person the "M" word, and an Italian person the "G" word.) It's basically a form of spreading hate.

Because Gay can have and does have other meanings. The word N-er only has one meaning and its a racial slur.

First, it's important for one to use the proper word.
"Gay" means "happy" and similar. The word you may be grasping for is "homosexual", and many of us will thank you for not contributing to the corruption of our language.
Second, the word is "niggerx" (intentionally misspelled to address the filter), and it is baffling why you and others cannot bring yourself to type it while at the same time have no compunction about typing other slurs.
Words themselves are not good or bad, offensive or not. Their usage might be.

Why talk about this topic, can't you find something else to talk about? Maybe this topic should be placed under cultures and groups? I see that a lot of people gave me the thumbs down. What I mean about why talk about this topics that your first question asks for real answers for the word gay and the N-word. I've never heard of the two words being correlated myself. I feel that bringing up topics on gays and the N-word is so racist, so why even bother to ask the question?

As you are in the Etiquette section of the site I will answer it in the appropriate manner for this forum, and that is: neither are polite terms to use (in the context to which you refer to them) and you should use neither in this way.
Gay is allowed by the filters because this is a legitimate term used for Homosexuals. The 'N' word is not allowed by filters because it is simple racist. The filters only pick out the words and not the context they are used in...therefore you can use the term 'Gay' in an offensive way as the filters do not pick up the context of your response/question....
however, as mentioned in my first paragraph - you should not use either term in the contexts to which you are using them as it is rude and offensive and not proper etiquette.
hope this clears it up for you.

There is no correlation between the two unless a black person is also a gay person.................
Gay is acceptable but N..... isn't.
They're both derogatory so I can't see why one is acceptable and the other isn't...................

If you have to ask this question you'll never understand.
However, I don't think anybody is that clueless.
