The more fundie the Christian, the more desperate they are to marry the first willing warm body as soon as possible so they can have sex.
Notice how the atheist divorce rates were the lowest? That's because atheists marry for reasons that are more compatible with long lasting marriage, such as similar mentality, living conditions, goals, etc. Atheists wait to marry the right person, in other words. Christians marry the first person they can in a naive belief their God will help them through the rough times that are bound to result from that approach.
The results speak for themselves.

Well, I'm hazarding a guess here, but it may have something to do with the fact that the marriage rate is higher among Christians than among non-theists.
Also, note that you said 27% of born-again Christians have "been divorced." Was that before or after they were born again? If, for example, I got divorced when I was 25 and got saved when I was 27, I was not a Christian who got a divorce. See what I mean?
Why the thumbs-down? Didn't realize I'd said anything that "controversial." Whatever.
Disgruntled: The more "fundie" the Christian, the more they go into marriage with the understanding that it is for LIFE, and that they don't have the option of bailing out to try again.
I got married at (barely) 20, after dating my husband for almost 3 years. And we are celebrating our 10th anniversary next month. And going strong.

Actually the statiistics are quite true.
The Bible Belt States (once called the Black Belt States,by Booker T Washington), are the poorest 11 states in the U.S.
Poverty and the churches strict morals drive young girls to the altar at a much younger age as compared to the more "liberal" states. The rule "no sex unless you're married" results in premature marriage. The divorce rate is evident.
I'll post the "Report".

I am a Christian, and it does sadden my heart that Christian divorces are at least as many as non-believers. That does not go well with God or for the Christian community- however- please remember that we are forgiven, not perfect- if we were perfect we would not need Jesus- we are new creatures in Christ and that should make us act differently than the world, but unfortunately that does not always happen.

All looks statistically similar to me. Which doesn't speak well of theism.
Two ideas.
I think fundie thinking which supresses women breaks down with exposure to the rest of the world. Then the women who are brave enough want to escape.
Many people are churchians not truly believing in and seeking God so much as worshiping the idea of church.

I would guess, because Christians usually get married instead of just living together. If the living together couples had to divorce when they split up, the numbers would be much different.

Jesus said that following Him would put son against father and brother against brother. It can also sometimes place tension between marriage partners.

Because the majority of "non-theists" just shack up and cohabit, and don't bother with marriage. No marriage, no divorce!
