I was just contemplating the christian religion and it crossed my mind that Jesus says that to even look upon a woman with lust is a sin that requires you to repent and even to gouge your eyes out. Well, since god has a pre-ordained time for everyone to die, what if you just happen to have a sinful thoughts when it happens. God doesn't seem to like blemishes, and Jesus' blood only covers you while you're living, one last sinful thought and it's off to the lake of fire with you. If you've been a good little christian terrorist all your life, slaughtered the non-believers as Jesus asked, stoned your kids and the whole nine yards of the OT, but at the end of your life you just happen to judge someone or think about sex, doesn't that mean you get to spend eternity in the lake of fire with all of the other sinners? Or can you ask for forgiveness after you die?

Regius, I'm not a christian, so this does not pertain to me. I'm simply wondering what would happen to YOU if you died right then when you passed that judgement of me. Do you think your god would have forgiven you, or do you think you deserve the eternal lake of fire for that?

Jibba, there were plenty of civilized nations in the area when god was talking to your palestinian heros. Egypt, Assyria, Rome, Greece... none of them stoned their children for being disobediant. So what is your argument again, or would you like to retract that statement?

Well the almighty knows your thoughts, so there is no difference in weather it was a physical or mental deed.
I would bet money that there is not one of us on this planet that has not had a thought of mutilating another human at some angry point in their lives.
If Jehobah :) is the only real God then we shall all have a welcome home party with satan in hell. but since he is not, lets have a party here on earth and blow out all these silly trick candles.

That's a rather extreme form of Arianism, isn't it? While I'm not a big fan of eternal security, maybe while you were a Christian you should have given it a bit of thought.

When you consider committing a sinful act the natural abhorrence for that act is diminished and your likely hood of committing that act is increased. If you repeatedly react to people cutting you off on the highway with rage you will eventually act upon that rage and do more than curse. (road rage) All sinful acts are premeditated. Therefore, considering sinful acts is the first step of committing them.

You know a little of what Jesus taught, you obviously don't know:
Love your enemies.-Matthew 5:44.
Gouging your eyes out would be a little extreme, every man would have to, (except the gay ones), absurd.
You have not obviously read John Chapter 8, "let him without sin cast the first stone"
And otherwise you characterize a Christian wrong. We do not do it to save ourselves, we do it to please God. You should research this.
You also have a fallacy about what Christ taught about judgment. Christ taught to:
Judge righteous judgment. -John 7:24.
If you are still unclear, check this site ABOUT JUDGMENT.

No, everyone has sinful thoughts countless times a day, it's acting them out that becomes a sin! Once your dead it's too late...but contrary to popular belief God gives people many chances...yes I'm saying reincarnation!

It is like going up in the elevator with God.....you may fall down a few times, but as long as you are on the elevator going up...you will still go up. And about the thoughts...we are in a war...we wrestle against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world...Satan whispers things to us that we think. As long as we don't DWELL on the evil thoughts we are not sinning. "As a man thinketh in his heart so is he"...a fleeting thought is not a sin, but dwelling on a sinful thought is. We are going to fall sometimes but God knows our hearts and whether we are going to choose Him or not. I am glad we are not the judge and jury.

Face it. If any of this were rational or even consistant, none of it would have survived past the 3rd century.

you start off thinkin' bad, then you go on agreein' with bad, then you go off doin' bad. seems like enough reason to make it a no-no.
besides, women don't like it when you stare at them
