Intelligent design isn't even an alternative. There is no alternative at the moment, because in over 100 years no one has come up with a better theory. If you do, then I'm happy for you. You'll join the ranks of the most famous scientists and probably make loads of money.

Evolution is not a religion. There is not enough evidence one way or another for a concrete truth about how the universe was formed. The problem is that Intelligent Design causes arguments about "whose god made us?" and "that's not my god" et cetera, but evolution doesn't deal with gods. People are trying to keep a reasonable distance between church and state. I believe that we just shouldn't teach that until high school, and then in an elective course, as religion courses are taught, so there can be no insulting either side. I never had to deal with being taught evolution because my teachers always handled it with "we won't finish the textbook if we do every chapter, so we're gonna skip this one and this one because you already know that anyway" and the chapters on how the universe was formed were always among those chapters that were skipped.

Because creationism has no evidence for it. Evolution, even if its on a micro level ,does. If (Christian's believe ) god created all things, then the statement god created science is true as well. It is through science that god does his works on this earth (at least as far as physical aspects are concerned). One could say that there are evidence for creationism, just look around, there has to be a designer! but again this god created the world through the process of science. (Are children not creation of or gift from god to Christian parents because they were made through science?)Creationism tries to explain WHERE things came from where as science focuses more on the HOW'S. Evolution does not explain everything and there are areas where it is irrelevant to use, but that is why IT IS A THEORY, NOT LAW. However, I think that evolution is the only SCIENTIFIC concept we have so far, that at least tries to logically explain how some things come about. I hope this helps. Peace:-)

1. evolution is not a religion, it is a scientific theory.

2. Evolution does not have "less evidence." It has plenty of evidence.

3. Intelligent Design is not an "alternative" to evolution. Intelligent Design posits only a designer - it does not in any way refute evolution (i.e. the designer designed the universe the way it is, including the laws of physics and the process of biological evolution if that theory is correct).

Also up is down, black is white, and you're a genius. Film at 11.

The "Evolution is religion" argument really kills me. That's how you criticize something? By comparing it with religion? Then I guess you must have a pretty low opinion of religion!

And you try to boost creationism (= "Intelligent Design") by insisting that it's backed up by science - which it isn't, at all, but that's almost beside the point. What you're implying is that science is legitimate, while religion is not.

I think a lot of people lobbying to get "ID" taught in public schools are just the standard ignorant/insane fundies, but a lot of others must have a sense, deep down, that the whole position is childish and imbecile. Some of them almost seem to be getting off on the fact that they can be so aggressively stupid and obnoxious and still have the support of thousands behind them, as if such behavior was the standard of righteousness.

Yes, it does. evolution is not a religion and has more evidence then Intelligent Design. Really, if they taught ID in school could you imagine the test? All the answers would be god did it.

First, don't ever teach. If you can't spell you can't teach.Second, I would rather be taught a scientific lesson that I can use in the real world rather then an arbitrary one that has so many different interpretations that it would never ever be a fair lesson and certainly wouldn't fall under necessary education.Unless it was included in folklore and mythology.Third, even if we did teach creationism, which creation story would be fair to teach if there are Hindu's in the class and Christians in the class and Atheists in the class?I think the current "realistic" and non dogmatic curriculum is just fine as it is.

Evolution is not a religion. Evolution is change over time. Religion is usually based on the belief of a deity. Evolution is taught in schools as part of the natural order of things over time. Religion is not taught unless you live in the Bible Belt of USA where there is still the consideration of the Will Of God and His Wrath to come at the end of time. There is still respect for the Father of us all in the Bible Belt.

Evolution is NOT a religion; it is established science. Furthermore, it is now a proven fact; proof details to anyone who provides an e-mail address. And yes, the alternative really does suuck that bad, because it cannot make predictions -- and predicting things is what science is all about.

The awnser is yes.

The evidence baking evolution are overwhelming, it is not a religion, its science. Inteligent Design on the other hand is not science, it has no good arguments, no evidence and nothing to back it up.
