When Adam received his bride through the cut in his side, it was figurative of a literal wound in Jesus' side that would literally give him His bride, the church.

Likewise, there are parables and direct prophecies of Christ's coming but we must NOT spiritualize away Christ's coming because we feel He should already have come. He will come in the clouds as He said:

2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
3:10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up."

I believe they are literal events that were meant to dramatically illustrate a concept. So figurative meaning as well!

most people get to figurative if they think alot. If they ask anymore questions they end up atheist.
