I've never been a housewife with no kids, but It's your choice. If you plan on having kids, your work load will triple then, lol.
Frankly, it's none of their darn business. You do what works for your family. As long as it is working for you and your husband, do it.
Don't worry about others, they will always find something to complain about.

Good for you! I wish I could be home with my little boy, but I know I have to help my husband support our family. If people put you down for having the chance to be at home, its just becuase they are jealous that they can't be home, or they really are just lame.
There have been studies done on the amount a stay at home mom/wife would make if she was ever paid, and I would say a lot more people would stay home if it was possible.
As for telling people the "nice" way... I think that no matter how you put it, they aren't going to believe you and will still put you down. Just YOU be the better one and say that it is what you love. Can very many people honestly say their "job" is what they love. Be honest and if they are rude, walk away and be proud and count your blessings that you are a lucky one to stay home and not be tied down to the world!
Good luck! I hope to join you one day as a non working wife/mom!

Just tell them you are happy as a housewife. It really is none of their business. If you and your husband are both okay with this arrangement, than that is between the two of you. You may decide to start a family or you may even change your mind after awhile, but that is your choice and you shouldn't have to justify yourself to anyone else.

Believe me, you are not alone. Most mothers feel this way at some point. You are not irresponsible, just normal. Childcare gets easier as the baby gets older. It sounds like your husband has his hands full with 12 hour job, but I understand that your job is 24/7. I hope he helps you some on his days off, at least. Look around your community for a "Mothers Day Out" program. Many churches offer them and you do not have to be a member. It will give you a much needed break. Good luck.

I don't know why people down play the housewife title. It is hard work. You have to be a mutli asker and good at it. How about saying "I'm a home care giver"

You just told all of us you are happy as a house wife, tell them the same thing. They are probably just jealous that you are happy with your life. Tell them you are happy and they should focus on their own happiness and leave you alone.

why care for them, lady?
if they come with you to the extent that you won't stand it.....think of them as dogs (sorry, but for you) that come and bark around your house,, will you go out and shout? no...because simply they won't understand you.....a while and they will leave ;)
