The only way to tell if a dogs temp. is elevated is through a rectal thermometer. Nose wetness/dryness means absolutely nothing.

a dogs normal temp is 101. You use a rectal thermometer and hold it up there for 3 mintues much like a baby( infant). If it's over 101 hten the dog has a fever.

A dog's temperature is normally higher than a humans, so they always feel warm to the touch. The best way to check your dog's temperature is to use a digital thermometer rectally. And using lube, or Vaseline is a good idea. A dog's normal temp. is 100.5-102.5 If you take her temp, and it is higher than that I would call your vet and ask them what they think. Good luck, I hope everything is okay, and she is just hot due to the weather.
They do make ear thermometers, like for children, but they are not very accurate for dogs. Rectally is the most accurate way to take a dog's temperature.

Hi,
If you haven't attended a good dog traning course you shouldn't complain. You have to learn to understand better your dog, the causes of its bad behaviours and some good techniques to use to get rid of any issue you have with your furry friend.
A good site with a good dog training course is http://www.goobypls.com/r/rd.asp?gid=572. I think it's the best dog training course available on the net.

You take a dogs temp witha rectal thermometer.
Make sure you hold it in place for 3 minutes. They can "vaccume" teh themomteter in if you don't hold it in place.
a egular temp is 102.
But honestly I would take to the vets, If she is acting lethargic there's a good possiblity that there is something going on. Teh vet also knows teh best on teh temp and if it is an underlying problem you may nnot want to wait especially as teh weekend is coming.
Good luck hope everything is ok with you dog

As an overprotective dog "mom" yes they can, a baby thermometor (rectal) can detect a temperature, but make sure that you know what you are doing. Look at her gums, if its pale and not pink that is a sign that she is not feeling well. I sugges for you just to call the vet to make sure.

Take their temp or feel their nose. A warm dry nose is a sign of fever in a dog.

I always check my dogs nose. If the nose is dry and warm then yes she does have fever. I would keep an eye on her today and if it gets worse take her in to the vet.

Actually Ears. and of course the ol' rectal
you temp rises due to infection causing blood temp to increase so an ear thermometer like the docs use on the kids works great. also they act lethargic slow to move like you do when you feel like crap..

the nose, knows. If her nose is dry and hot then shwe either has a fever or is reacting to allergies. The vet will be able to tell you if whether or not it is a fever
