because people make themselves feel more powerful by spotting something they think is weaker than them, and putting it down. Usually people with low self-esteem do things like that, people that don't really believe in what they can do, so they make themselves feel better by pointing out what other people can't do that they can, or to that affect.

Look, this is Yahoo answers. Nobody knows anybody else on here (for the most part) so why do you let people you don't know 'hurt your feelings'? People tend to answer sarcastically when the question is ridiculous ie:Question: I'm 12 and feel emotionally ready to have sex. Should I go ahead and do it?....to which my response would be 'Yeah sure why not? This country really NEEDS more teenage pregnancys because there is simply not ENOUGH people collecting child welfare!'. Its all about the questions you ask. If your questions are serious and legitimate, then people will give you a serious answer. Saying that, some people will just write a sarcastic comment just to be funny, and since I find sarcasm the best form of humour, I DO find it funny! Bottom line, if you don't like the comment, ignore it, you don't know these people!

Unfortunately we live in a world where we cannot be sheltered by all negative things. We certainly need to take things in stride and except that some people just are not positive. When we decide to be a part of yahoo answers we are opening ourselves up to things we may not want to hear. We cannot ask for advice and then turn around and say it is wrong. Surround yourself with positive influences and take everything else in stride. There certainly is alot of people out there that can give good advice. Put your energy in the right place and that would be with people that understand you and do not want to hurt your feelings. I don't know what your question was so I cannot answer your question. Good luck with everything!!!

Most of the time the questions are really dumb, so people answer the way the feel most appropriate. Most of the people that get offended by an HONEST answer think they are being sarcastic, and get upset.

Because it's fun. Some people just ask dumb questions and it's hard to resist responding back in a sarcastic way. My biggest peeve is people (kids really) who ask what are clearly homework questions. So I get on their case about doing their own work and say that is just not how it will be in the real world. Sometimes it's just to make a point.

well i'll admit i'm one of those people who answer sarcastically, but only when people ask really stupid questions. Stupid question=stupid answer in my book. Then again some people are just plain ignorant and want to get a rise out of someone they've never met and prob. will never meet.

It is a personality trait that gets out of control when on the internets.
Some people are just rude and way too judgmental of people they don't know.
I wouldn't sweat it.

Everybody is sarcastic. So people just can't help answering questions sarcastically. They think they're being funny or something.
