In most places, the cops are required to have their lights on when parked on the side of the road. If it is a common occurrence, I'd call the chief's office and file a complaint.

For mayday - I spent 17 years in law enforcement you twit. I was stating what is a standard requirement in most jurisdictions. It is a safety issue. Police are not supposed to pose a hazard to the public unless there are extreme circumstances, which this case doesn't really sound like. As far as filing a complaint with the chief's office, that is a very common occurrence. Most agencies have specific channels to investigate and resolve such complaints as a normal course of operation. It's called public relations, something you obviously have no concept of nor an ability to comprehend.

It's a trade off sometimes but it is no different than a disabled motorist. As a driver you should be on your toes and alert to changing traffic conditions, and most importantly not speeding while operating a vehicle.

Far as sitting on turn around that is best for an officer. Law prohibits the general public for utilizing these for a good reason. For law enforcement it is a safer place to conduct a good turnaround as the conditions are known on the turnaround and there is ample footing for the patrol unit to grab traction to promptly get to speed instead of getting rear ended.

Sad truth is for law enforcement it is more dangerous to conduct a traffic stop then sit in a high risk area as rubber neckers tend to run into the back of parked patrol units with lights on.

the gubmint should go back to giving advise in the gardening section... "call a complaint into the chiefs office"???? that seems to be the answer to everything these days.. that is why the relationship between police and the public is diminishing.. because of toolboxes like you who feel the need to call the chief for everything you see unfit that a police officer does, such as "improperly parking his car" give the police a break for christ's sake!!! they are the one you may call for help some day.. if you had an ounce of common sense or any knowledge of the job of a police officer, you wouldnt post such ridiculous garbage on this forum.. it goes for every one of you people who ignorantly run your mouths.. and to the cops here, keep up the good work guys, i understand the stuff you have to deal with on a daily basis.. thank you

It doesn't matter what color the car is. I have witnessed a fire truck getting side swiped! People are so busy looking at what is going on that they forget to pay attention to the road they are driving on.
