taking more will do nothing extra for your body - it will just use whatever is needed and the rest leaves your body ...:-) (sorry for my poor english - i have no better way of explaining)

You can take a lot more.
Most people can take 15,000mg a day or more.
Personally I don't think this is needed for most people, but some do benefit from it. 5,000 mg a day is plenty even for most sick people.
Excess Vitamin C is excreted in the urine, so there is no possibility of vitamin C toxicity. However, if you take more than your system can tolerate, you will get diarrhea. Some doctors advocate that you keep increasing your vitamin C dosage until you get a loose stool, then cut back to 1000 mg less as your daily dose.
If you are sick or injured, your body may tolerate much more Vitamin C than it normally would, since you need more.
If you are taking such large doses, be careful of what form you use. If you are taking Sodium Ascorbate or Potassium Ascorbate in such high doses, you could upset your electrolyte balance. Calcium Ascorbate should be no problem. Ascorbic Acid is the cheapest, and it is the form most people take when taking high doses.

Having 10 years retail experience, i've read that too much vitamin c can't hurt you and is excreted in urine. However, too much vitamin C can give you an uncomfortable disoriented feeling that might last for 30 minutes to an hour... I've experienced this and it is no fun... (about 5000 mg)... They actually make 2000 mg tablets and i'm sure you could take up to 5000 mg in one day, i just wouldnt take more than 1000mg at a time. Look for an Ester C, it's the highest quality Vit C, and get one with bioflavonoids or rosehips to increase absorption...

Yes, you can take too much of any vitamin. But vitamin C is water soluble so it's safer than some other vitamins. 1000mg a day over 1500% of the recommended daily value, which is pushing it. I wouldn't take more than one of those a day, there's absolutely no reason to. You should be getting some vitamin C from fruits anyway.

As stated be for too muck could give you the runs but more than likely your next potty break will take care of the extra for you. 1000 to 2000 will be ok. Look for a sustained release vitamin c. It's one of the few vitamins that can be taken this way. Vitamin C is a do-everything kind of nutrient, supporting heart health, immune health, and more.
But important as it is, our bodies can't store it. To make it available, we need it at regular intervals.

Vitamin C is a water-soluble vitamin. Your body will use what it needs and will dispose of the unused portion through urine.

As such, in order to retain Vitamin C in your system, you will need to continue to take some throughout the day.

The recommended dose is 100 to 200 milligrams. I definitely wouldn't take more than what you are taking now. If you do you run the risk of a vitamin C overdose which could lead to stomachaches and diarrhea.

You should not be taking that much vit. C, especially if you aready drink juices that have it. Too much vitamin C can be harmful for your liver. I used to take the 1000 mg supplement daily as well and after few weeks I developed a sore like growth in my mouth from all that acid.
