I listen to rockers who are Christians. I think Neko Case is, and she rocks.
But music is about art. And most Christian rock is mere plagiarism of other art with the lyrics changed. "Hey, let's copy Heavy Metal music, turn it into a formula, and contrive some Christian lyrics." For example, Creed sounds EXACTLY like normal rock did 3 years before the band was started -- it's just a formula band.
Imagine someone trying to take A Farewell to Arms and rewriting it as a "Christian Book" -- it simply wouldn't work.
I appreciate music for its own sake, not because it's "Christian" or "secular" music.

Good question. Here's my opinion. I've heard some of them, not all. I don't like them mostly because I think the musicians that are in the band are not very good, nor are the singers. And above all I do not like how the lyrics are, many of them can be interpreted the wrong way altogether. It is very likely I think that the whole 'christian rock' thing has already been corrupted.
I do however like a very few, though most of them are not considered christian rock. I like that some songs can bring others closer to God and help them cope with the world. I also think that even rock and roll songs can and do do the same things. I think everyone should be open to listen to all varieties of music.

Haven't heard any with the talent of the Stones, Tull or Zeppelin. As a christian, I'd love to hear some decent christian rock, but most of its just so bubblegum or redundant it gives me a headache.

Yeah, like I bet 90% you all weren't aware that Lifehouse and Flyleaf and Evanessence are Christian rock bands.

I like all music, but are you implying that if I listen to Christian Music I have to be a Christan?
If I listen to hip hop does that make me a gangsta!?!?

I have, and some are very good. I like country and hip-hop, and mainstream songs in those genres have Christian themes; I'm also looking very forward to my favorite singer Sinead O'Connor's new CD, called "Theology," in which she reinterprets Old Testament verses. Religious people can be creative and talented.

Dear TTC,
The Bible says, "Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?
And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel?" (2 Corinthians 6:14, 15).
I hope this will help you.

Several. Most rock people ignore the words anyway. We're in it for the music.

Nah, I'm more obvious than that- I still enjoy listening to KISS and Type O Negative. I don't like "no name" bands, especially ones that can't sound original. AC/DC- how many bands have sounded "just like them"? Alot.
