I am curious what the success rate is? If ive been with my girlfriend for a year i wanted to know if i would to join the armed forces what the chances of us staying together would be or the chances of either of us cheating on each other. I know a lot of relationships dont work or as far as cheating it happens a lot. Personal expierence would be awesome!

I'm worried about her cheating or me but i know it's bound to happen just for the fact that 4 years is a long time a lot can happen so i rather be single not be together and if it's meant to be then God will let it be!

Go for the Air force dude... the fact that your thinking about you or her cheating means its not as good as it can be... You will be better off in the long run... go for it dude... see the world and meet tons of new people!

It's up to you, but if you aren't already married, probably kind of low. You will be away from each other from 3 months to more than a year depending on which career you choose. Then you would need to have her move to your new duty station or have a long distance relationship. Even if she moves, you will be living in the barracks unless you get married, and will you be any more ready then than now. Add to the fact that you will be exposed to a much wider world and different people, you will change a lot, and will she still be the person you want.

I'm not saying it's bad, but I wouldn't jump to get married first, and I wouldn't count on it working out. You will change a WHOLE lot, and she won't.

You sound like a very smart young man. You are approaching the situation realistically and that is what so many people your age do not do.
Sounds like you have made good choices in life, a career in the Air Force is the way to go if you are going to be in the military these days... Good Luck!

It is the crud. You go to boot then tech School for what seems like forever. It is a good test of the relationship.

My guess(anecdotal) is 50-50. Real survives, youthfull infatuation turns to ashes.

It depends on the inividual person....

I met met my husband while he was in the service.... 90% of our courtship was through postal mail....

Cheating? nope.... didn't happen...

On the other hand a friend from HS joined the Army and his long time girl friend cheated and sent him a dear john letter...

It just depends on the individual person...
