Except for accidents, no.

But people with low-function autism can have very little awareness of danger. My nephew would scream in terror at getting his nails clipped or hair cut, but would chew on electrical cords.

He died 2 years ago this month. At the age of 4, he wandered off & found the creek before anyone found him. It is very common for kids with low-funtioning autism to have an extreme attraction to water.

No you don't. Being autistic is not being mentally challenged. They think and act differently as there are different types of autism. There is a whole spectrum of autism.

I happen to think that the autistic mind can be more intelligent then a "normal" mind. One would just have to find the key to unlocking the autistic mind.

Autism is generally not a neurodegenerative condition, so usually, the life expectancy is about as it is for anyone else, barring things like accidents from lack of danger awareness or neurological cause that goes untreated.
