Depends. How old are you? I've gotten this camera for my 16 year old and for her I think it's fine. My 20 yr old has similar one, little nicer. Above all else, if you do get it from Best Buy - get the extended warranty!!! It's paid off for me!

In the past sony really hasnt been that great in the digital camera feild. Quit worrying about megapixels. Most people would never need more than a 5mp (really more like 3.2mp) camera. Most consumers use cameras nowdays for online pictures and small prints. Reality, a 3.2mpn camera will make an OK 8x10.
And personally, I would stay away from the point and shoot type cameras. Find a good canon or nikon Digital SLR. Reality, a older 5mp digital rebel is going to take far better pictures than any point and shoot camera no matter what the MP. Reallit if I didnt do some professional work, I would take even an older canon 3.2mp Dslr over any point and shoot camera.

I would go with the Fuji a610 for the same price. Sony is terrible and the Memory Sticks are a rip-off. Also, more mega pixels do not mean better picture quality. Fuji uses a CCD chip that delivers very crisp pictures.

You may also want to look into Canon.

The Nikon mentioned above is $600...maybe a bit of an elaborate choice for a simple point and shoot camera.

When it involves being in the back of the digicam, I'm a digicam whore. However, being in entrance of it? Very shy... so much people consistently inquire from me for latest photos and I so very not often take them. heck. my internet cam has handiest been on in this new computer on the grounds that I did not understand the settings. Since then? Once.... Now in view that I have no longer shot anyones' % in a whilst.....and I've obtained lots of movie...and a few virtual cameras....
