NH has NO income tax (unless your income is comprised of interest only, above a certain minimum). But NH does have VERY steep property taxes - to pay for local government and local schools. My home is appraised at $360K and I pay over $7,500 in local property tax!! (My choice to live in NH)

Also, there is sales tax on food/lodging of 8%, but no tax on clothing, cars, etc.

NH has neither income nor sales tax, but property taxes are insanely high. CT has a farily high tax bite overall compared to most states.
