In a caravan there can never be a guaranteed signal on Freeview. You need to be in a VERY good signal area. Height is the main problem. With analogue TV as the signal weakens the picture gradually gets snowier until no longer watchable. With digital there is a sudden point at which the signal is too weak to be usable. This is called the edge of the cliff effect. Even with a good outdoor aerial you may not get all Freeview channels because until the analogue is switched off, some freeview channel groups are being transmitted out- of -band and need a WIDEBAND aerial to receive them. Also digital is not on full power yet until analogue is switched off. Here is a link to help you.

Most places you buy a caravan antenna ie a multidirectional one !!But as they say in the world of real estate its Location---Location .
