While sitting in a chair, (which you are probably doing)
Lift your right leg and rotate your foot clockwise. Just make a circle with your foot.
Do this for a few seconds, then with your finger, draw the number 6 with your finger in the air.
Your foot will automatically switch to counterclockwise.
What is with this?
Can anyone tell me scientifically or otherwise?

That is a good one. I even think it is related to religion. One mind one body. Who can separate them?

My foot still went clockwise but I would have to say that it is like rubbing your belly and patting your head- you see the finger go clockwise looping the 6 so your foot automatically does it.

There are a lot of things that happen like that. I can't reproduce that specific test at the moment (no pen and I hurt my foot)... But it has to do with brain function. You could ask in Psychology and perhaps someone would have a better explanation.

It's like walking and chewing gum at the same time. Takes a little practice. My foot doesn't change directions.

It's brain function. The same side of the brain controls both arm and leg. Use your left leg and right arm. it's easy. Becasuse both sides of your brain can control you're opposite appendages, and no signals get mixed up.

Didn't work
Worked this time.
Probably has something to do with the left and right hemispheres of the brain. Kind of like when you are learning to play the piano and you have learn to use both sets of digits independently. In time you could train your brain to accomplish the task. A neurobiologist could probably explain.

It happens when we leave it to our subconcious mind to decide what to do. It finds it easy to do the things in one direction.

My guess...but not such a wild one'
