Let me explain.
Mrs. Mauldin says that God told her to not unpack the boxes when she was moving into a new home, because she would be moving again.
Her husband also says that God told him they should move.
If you listen to Mrs. Mauldin, she sounds like someone who believes herself to be truly guided by God, and humbly listening to his voice.
But then once they were in the new place, Mr. Mauldin tortured their 2-month old baby, by, among other things, putting the poor child in a microwave!
Now, obviously, the mother's life is all messed up.
What is going on here?

it sounds like Mr Mauldin has a demon Mrs Mauldin may have been listening to God He said my sheep know My voice and no one else will they follow so in time her life may become better than she could have ever imagined but she must keep her faith and keep listening to God and if Mr Mauldin insisted on keeping his demon i would have him removed from my home

Clearly, Mrs. Mauldin was actually guided by God. Mr. Mauldin, claimed he he heard from God simply because of his own selfishness.

In the child abuse case, I would go with simple mental illness -- schizophrenia perhaps. That person I don't think should go to jail, because, quite frankly, she's insane.
In the case of the person behaving normally but hearing voices from God -- I think it depends on the nature of the voice. If it's a hunch, that's normal, and the word she's using for the hunches we all have is, God. If she literally heard a voice, as though someone were talking to her, she is probably crazy too.
There's a difference between having a hunch you cannot attribute a source to and literally hearing voices that aren't there.

People who think they are listening to God have always populated the mental hospitals. The problem is, if you have this direct pipeline in your head, you can believe even terrible things are what God wants you to do. If, on the other hand, you get your instructions at a remove, you can analyze, study, compare the specific to the general principles you have adopted, and decide for yourself whether or not it is what God wants you to do.
If you believe God is good, you believe he wants you to do good things. If, on the other hand, you believe that what you hear in your head is God, it may not be. It may even be a demon. Or, more "scientifically," it may be your own tortured mind.

This sounds like a case of mental illness. My heart is weeping over this.
From the christian perspective this is a case where Satan posed as God and instructed these two weak-minded people to do these horrible things. Then it became public so that anti-religion pundints can beat-up and christians some more.

hmmmm...
You can look at it from a supernatural perspective and say she has been hearing from a spirit or spirits aka demonic powers. It is also possible she heard from God and then became subject to what is called demonic powers.
(Demonized- Evil spirits tempt people into acts of sin through enticing thoughts and their physical senses.)
People are not exempt from hearing the voice of God, even if they are not a believer. Same as, people are not exempt from hearing demonic voices... Believer or not!
Obviously she was having really big issues if she did that to her baby!

Ask them if they are sure its God and not something else. If they seem to have a glaze to their eye - and look a bit crazy - run away. After all YOU don't want to end up in the microwave!!!
(PS notify a local religious person to sit and speak with them -daily- let them be the martyrs.)

God would never tells someone to do something harmful to someone else and especially He wouldn't tell them to do something against His word in the Bible.
For a person to feel the need to torture and kill or to even abort their own child, this feeling is not from God.

God speaks to His people, but the son of sam didn't hear God speak to him,. God speaks Love, direction, comfort strength. What these people heard was not of or from God not the God I serve anyways. This person needs help and I sure pray she gets the help she needs too. Will be praying for her..
