I am planning my own wedding. I found my dress for 175.00. It is very pretty. The best place to look for a gown that is almost one everywhere you go is David's Bridal. You can get tuxedos at After Hours.
I dunno about the reception.
Most wedding planners do you choose your gown or tuxedos. Most of them still leave that up to you.
Hiring a wedding planner can get you discounts with like bakerys, flowers, location fees. We choose not to hire one because I have some connections almost with everything I needed.
I have had some friends that hired wedding planners and it cut back on alot of stress.
So, if you can afford one the go for it! By the way Congrats!

Hi you sound like you are planning on having a very expensive wedding, if you going to spend 20-30 thousand quid on it. I suppose then you could afford to go with a wedding planner. I didnt chose a wedding planner because if was my wedding and I know wedding planners they go for the most expensive and try and do everything for you when you want it your way and they try and change your mind about everthing, well this is what the one I saw did.
Im getting married in July and I planned it with my mum and its all how I wanted it. But I supsose if your not interested in how it turns out then get a wedding planner.
You will have to set a dat first then ring round places as you will first need to decided where you are getting married and then go and see the vicar or registra, then you will need to ring the hotel of your choice to book your reception and see if the date is free when your having your wedding. Then you need to find out off the hotel how much the meals are. if its an expensive hotel your looking at £25-30 for the first type of menu and then there go up in price as sometimes you can have a choice of menus. But if your in a normal hotel they start from around £20-25. Then you have to have a place fore you night do if your having one and the dj and food for them. and the guest for the night do, 100-150 guest might not turn up to the wedding recpetion but use this as a rough number as some hotels can only cater for so many people. We rang loads of places and we needed room for 80-100 guest but someplaces only did up to 50 guest which was no good.
You need to sit down first and right down the number of guest first and then right a list of venue you wuld like fore your reception incase on place cannot cater for all your guests.
The money you have listed about by far enough to get your wedding dress and the tuxedo. You could even kit out the bridal party at a suit higher shop if you want everyone to look the same. My dress was very expensive and we havent set a 20 grand wedding budget. If you have this amount to spend you could get any dress you wanted, happy dress hunting this is the best bit some of the dresses out there are amazing. Get your appointement book and get trying on thoses dresses.

Wedding planners are a waste of money that you could be spending on your big day. I'm sure you already have ideas in mind of what you want, so why do you need someone to plan it for you? It should be you and your husband to be planning your big day, not some stranger your paying god knows how much per hour.
don't bother. Spend a little more time finding exactly what you want yourselves, and slash the money you saved by not getting a wedding planner on a fantastic honeymoon!
Oh, and congradulations!

I would search the resolved questions that have asked this answer countless times before... You will find good answers there.
Also, "K" means 1000, if you are really willing to be down $20000-30000 for a gown/tuxedo you will never wear again... then you do not need to worry about not getting a wedding planner, or how much ANYTHING would cost for that matter.

HIre a wedding planner.
Ask at your local bridal shop, or look in the Yellow pages under Wedding Planners, Bridal Services or Events Planners for names.
Keep an ear out for "Bridal Expos" in your area -

I think that you should do both. Its your wedding and the Planner is there to assist you. Where are you located? If you're in Florida, I can help.
You can definitely get a tux and gown for way under the price of $20k. I'm certain that you can entertain and serve your guests for that much.

I would love to hire a wedding planner, but i've noticed from family that had hired them; they can sometimes take over the situation. I am going to plan my own wedding, but for the day of I am going to have someone coordinate the events. Many wedding planning services offer different packages for their service. I know some will handle the entire planning while others let you relax of the day of your wedding and take over for that day only. Good luck.
check theknot.com for wedding services offered in your area or look in the phone book

properly having a marriage planner extremely enables issues pass smoother and keeps you much less under pressure. I certainly have a marriage planner yet i do no longer might desire to pay her. She volunteered and he or she's completed a good activity! perhaps you may get an actual pal or kinfolk member who likes doing that variety of stuff to do it for you. you would be happy you had a marriage planner in the top. they seem to be a huge help!

20-30k, you must be CRAZY ! If you are to plan your wedding you need to get quotes from caterers for cost per head, for instance if they tell you $15 per head times this by 100 ($1500 ) or $15 by 150 ($2250). You need to use your intelligence have a really low key ceremony and keep your money, marriage is not about having a showy ceremony, dress, etc but about a wonderful journey you are about to make.

WELL IF YOUR BUDGET ALLOWS A WEDDING PLANNER THEN GO FOR IT. THEY TAKE SO MUCH
STRESS OFF THE BRIDE AND GROOM BUT AT THE
SAME TIME THEY GET A PRETTY CHUNK OF WHAT
THE TOTAL WEDDING COSTS. YOU NEED TO LOOK
INTO IT FIRST AND ASK WHAT THEIR FEES ARE AND
HOW IT IS PAID. AND AS FOR LOOKING FOR A PLANNER YOU CAN LOOK ON THE WEB FOR YOUR
LOCAL AREA. I KNOW LOCALLY THERE IS AN EVENT
THAT IS CALLED BRIDAL EXTRAVAGANZA AND IT
IS HELD ON A WEEKEND. YOU MIGHT WANT TO
CONTACT YOUR LOCAL BRIDAL SHOP TO SEE IF
THEY HAVE A DATE FOR ONE THAT IS COMING TO
YOUR AREA. I WISH YOU THE BEST OF LUCK AND
MANY YEARS OF HAPPINESS........
