the dentist gave me a prescription for penicilan and said that if it reached the eye to go to the hospital, as he would be out of town this weekend. How serious is this?

Get off the computer and go to the hospital NOW!! Its very serious. Its a bad infection and its too close to your brain for comfort.
If it was me I would have already been in the E.R. hours ago.

Very serious. When your face starts swelling it most likely is cellulitis.It can cause the infection to go into your blood stream and reach your brain. Definitly go to the e.r. They will probably give you a shot or i.v. of stronger anitibiotics to speed up the process of fighting the infection.

Serious. Go to the hospital. Infection from abscessed teeth can cause all kinds of health problems, including heart attack. It's true, even though it sounds strange. Go right now!

Pretty serious. You need to get that infection drained out before it burst. Are you not in terrible pain? I would go to the ER and have them pull the tooth or at least drain it.

if i were you... i'd be taking a trip the emergency room! you should see a doctor asap before it gets TOO bad!!
