Depends on the bottled water and depends on where you live.
Some bottled waters come from municipal water supplies. They may have pictures of the Rockies on the label, but the water might have came from a tap in Houston, TX. There are no standards to bottled water. They can put water in there from any source as long as it is reasonably clean. Carefully read the label. Most tell you where the water came from.
Water from the faucet is pretty healthy anywhere in the US. There are some places where it tastes horrible, but they are not unhealthy for you. What you can do is get a water purifier. That will knock out a lot of the bad taste in the water. If you are still really concerned, then distill the water. Kind of going overboard but oh well.
Millions of people drink water from the tap every single day and they are not being harmed by it.

Technically no, boiling water only kills micro organisms in the water, i.e. contaminants that are alive. However they are not the only pollutants in water, there are other inorganic impurities in water like heavy metals etc. these are not affected be boiling. Both public and private water companies filter out such contaminants. But it is generally accepted that private companies does it better because of the profit motive and they are hindered by cost as much as the other. But this does not mean that faucet water is impure, that depends on your locality some do it better that others. But if your interested in extra protection and you have anything against bottled water. Try boiling and then filtering your faucet water. That should even things up.

Some bottled water companies sell basically boiled, or reverse osmosis water from a tap.
Unless you're living in the jungles of Mexico, or the slums of Africa, good old American tap water is just about as good as anything you can buy in the store. Boiling might make it just a little better, and a filter or reverse osmosis unit attached to your sink would give you an unlimited supply of perfect H2O.

This is a completely local question. There are areas where the water straight out of the tap is better than anything you can buy in a bottle. There's probably some governmental agency like a water board in your locale that you can ask about the local supply.

It may actually be healthier in some cases... Just because the water is bottled does not mean 'filtered' or 'purified.'
